Bosch Wine Refrigerator: before you buy

An Average Joe's review of the Bosch Wine Refrigerator

My Bosch Wine refrigerator was not only hard to find it was also not cheap. It is true in my case that you get what you pay for. It was a real journey to finally get one shipped to my house in a reasonable time frame and have it arrive undamaged.
If you're spending $4500-$5000 on a super high-end wine refrigerator then I believe you should be entitled to be as picky as you want. When I finally got one settled in my home it was a thing of beauty.
The Bosch Max Bright System allows you to clearly see your entire wine inventory with just a glance. The UV protection on the glass doors mean you don't have to be quite as paranoid about sunlight damaging your wine. This means more options for placing it.

Is the Bosch Wine Refrigerator right for You?

Consider these points before choosing

What Wine do you Drink? You should consider the quality of wine you intend to store in the wine chiller. A $12 bottle has different needs than a $2000 Chateau Lafit-Rothschild Bordeaux.

How much wine do you have? If you throw big parties often or plan on collecting wine then you should think about one of the bigger types of refrigerators like the Bosch.

Wine is alive and constantly changing according to its environment. You will need accurate temperature controls so that you can maintain a constant temperature.

If you feel you do not have wine that justifies the expense or you just want something to keep less than a dozen bottles chilled for the occasional party then scroll to the bottom of the page and look at the Emerson wine refrigerators.

Space Requirements for the Bosch Wine Refrigerator

Wine refrigerator are the best for the aging solutions of wines. Aside from sustaining the needed light exposure, temperature, and humidity, they are also very essential in the expansion of your wine collection.
If you need a high-end wine refrigerator then I can recommend a Bosch. If on the other hand you don't possess any quality wine that really requires proper storage then I suggest you look at one of the cheaper low-end varieties of wine refrigerators and save yourself a lot of money until you have wine worth storing. I have included an eBay search for your convenience.
The Bosch unit is mainly for serious wine enthusiasts and it shows in the price tag.

KNOW YOUR SPACE
This is very important. Where are you going to put your brand new bosch wine refrigerator? I have included the real world measurements for both the 18" and 24" versions so you can grab a tape measure and find a home for it.
Please consider: The 18" and 24" in the names for both of these refrigerators refers to their width. A six foot tall person is 72 inches and both of these items are 84 inches tall. So yes, they are very tall but quite sleek.

Common Bosch Wine Refrigerator Questions

The common questions for a wine refrigerator are usually things like; does it have independent temperature control? Is there an evaporator? How many bottles can I fit on each shelf? So here are the special features for both the 18" Bosch wine refrigerator and the 24" model. They are very similar but the larger one can hold 28 more bottles.
I bought the smaller one because I figured there was no way I'd ever have more than 70 bottles of wine I wasn't going to drink. And if I ended up with more than 70, well, I'd just have to drink one.

FYI: the sabbath mode enables you to shut down the wine refrigerator during specific times or days.

A Bosch wine refrigerator rarely shows up on eBay because after you get it you never want to get rid of it. I'm serious.

I hear Vinotemp wine coolers are pretty good. Can you recommend one of their wine fridges for me? I would like something between 16 and 32 wine bottles.

When people think of a Wine Refrigerator, their first impression may be that it is an expensive luxury that is not really needed and only upper-class "wine snobs" will have the money to waste on them. However, if you are the type of person who not only enjoys a glass or two of wine, but also enjoys looking after them, a wine refrigerator may be something that you should actually think about investing in. The reason for this is that it can ensure that your wines are kept at the ideal temperature to ensure their quality is maintained.

Wine coolers and refrigerators are of numerous shapes, sizes, designs, colors, details, and capacities, such that important specifications may, at times, be too overwhelming for first-time buyers. This is why it is very important that you determine your most essential needs in a wine cooler or fridge and know what types of wine bottles you are going to store in them.
