Clear Sound
reviewed by ERod (active musician) from South Texas on Feb 18, 2010
I got the Bose L1 Compact as a practice amp for my keyboard. It is light, portable, and looks like a cool bass woofer instead of an amp while in compact mode. My keyboard (Yamaha MM8) sounds very clear but I had to try several locations in my practice room to hear myself better.I was worried that the low register would not sound good but it does, all the way down to the low "A" (last white key on the left side of the 88key keyboard). Middle register on piano is excellent and the hi register keys are clear but don't seem to be too loud. However they can be heard clearly at quite a distance. It took some time to get used to the sound because I am used to playing on a Traynor K4 with a Traynor K2 as a monitor. The sound is different but good.
For my home and to carry around I would prefer this Bose L1 Compact. I connected an Ipod to it and it sounds very good. It doesn't sound loud (distorted) but you can hear it through out the place clearly. I think it will do great for parties with a mic and Ipod. I can see a DJ using it with a mixer and DJ equipment. The bass is actually quite good to my surprise since it is compact and light weight. I think I will find many uses for it. Would definitely buy another one if this is every damaged or stolen.
