Ranked #4,570 in People, #84,985 overall

Starting out as a burglar and jewel thief over time Boston Blackie evolved into a private detective. The Boston Blackie Radio shows are some of the most entertaining with Blackie constantly one upping the police and Inspector Farraday in particular.

"Enemy to those who make him an enemy, friend to those who have no friend."

What's So Great About Boston Blackie?

My introduction to Boston Blackie was through the radio shows. I love listening to old time radio shows while I work and Boston Blackie is one of the more entertaining I've listened to.

They are over the top and generally impossible but because of the comedic tone of the show it works. In the early shows Inspector Faraday genuinely wants to lock Boston Blackie up but later they really have a friendship where the insults and competition are much more goodnatured.

Boston Blackie
BOSTON BLACKIE is a rather peculiar character to include in this site as he wasn't a P.I. in his original incarntation at all. It was only later, in film, radio, and eventually television, that he morphed into a private eye.
