Boston Celtics 2011-12 Short Season

I Think the Shortened NBA Season is a Good Thing for Focus, Intensity & Good Health for Aging Celtics

I wonder if the shortened 2012 NBA season will actually benefit the Boston Celtics. The top three players are, well, very mature. With Kevin Garnett (35), Paul Pierce (34) and Ray Allen (36) should be at the top of their game as the season approaches the championship.

See the schedule for yourself here >> 2011-2012 schedule, which began on December 25, 2011.

So, trades and drafts of summer, labor disputes, and retooling in a variety of physical and mental "brackets" are supposed to help with 2012.

Maybe Rajon Rondo needs some good old fashion therapy to keep from bombing out with emotional stress if a friend (like Perkins) gets traded. Maybe Garnett could just chill instead of beating the bejesus out of himself (chest self-attacks went out with Tarzan), or trying to bully players to Paul Pierce looks to me like he's lost some weight, which I predicted last season he needed to do to alleviate some of the burden to his aging frame. No offense, Paul. I'm just saying...

Well, these are some of the issues I'll bring up if Doc Rivers phones me for an opinion.

In the meantime I'll try to practice faith in his instincts for shining the polish on the Great Green from Boston.

Will Rajon Rondo Keep His "Grand Theft Rondo" Title?

What about the new players? Will anyone upstage fleet-footed Rondo?

Rajon Rondo may be bigger than ever in 2011-12

"Grand Theft Rondo" is only one way to describe this meteoric hoophead

Phillyfreeze69 says:

You will see the same thiefery, floor generalship, rebounding and play making that Rajon displayed during the Celtics spectacular run to finals for the 2nd time in 3 years. The 2010-11 season should be exciting for Boston Celtics fans around the world.

Rajon Rondo has peaked - Who's next?

Fun Links for Celtic Fans

Here's a quote from mid-August 2010 that shows how creative writing can get by lovers of the Celtics. "One tick of a clock sounds exceedingly mundane, but that tick can mean so much to so many. The final tick at Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals can describe such a moment, as this wasn't just the end of a game -- it was a tick of epic proportions."

King Kevin vs King James

How are they alike? Different?

Number 5 Celtic is forward Kevin Garnett, the traditional team leader. His dedication to helping younger players is legendary. His grace on the court combines with a fierce competitive style.

King Kevin has earned the accolade. If his "numbers" fell off late in the season, he mostly recaptured his mojo in the playoff games.

New Miami Heat star LeBron James, number 6, has much of the same potential. The 2011 season merely revealed his immaturity. If he can capture more complete character and levelheadedness - to catch up with his talent - he will have a long and happy life as an NBA star.

I love the sounds, the smells and even the silly bravado!

My love for watching professional basketball started in Junior High School. As a 8th grader attending harvey C. Russell, Jr. High I had the opportunity know Dallas Thorton, Two-Time All-American at Kentucky Wesleyan College, 2 seasons with Miami Heat and 13 seasons with the Harlem Globetrotters and Wes Unseld, All-American at the University of Louisville and only NBA player to be named Rookie of Year and MVP earned honors with Washington Bullets 1968-69 season.

Dallas and Wes were Kentucky High School All-Star teammates in 1964 that played the Indiana All-Stars in June of that year.
