Boston Terrier History
In 1870, English Terriers and Bulldogs were being crossbred. One of the first crossbred dog was called Hooper's Judge. Hooper's Judge was bred with a white female. The female bore one of the first Boston Terriers. However, it did not have that name at first.
By 1889, a club was organized for Boston Terriers. This club, called the American Bull Terrier Club, was opposed by Bull Terrier owners. These owners thought it was unfair to consider the new dog breed with the same name as their dogs. Because of this opposition, the American Bull Terrier Club was renamed the Boston Terrier Club.
