Boston Yoga Teacher - Amy Leydon

Amy Leydon left her job as an Emmy Award-winning television producer to pursue her passion for yoga. She now channels her creative energy into her teachings to give her students a unique and engaging experience as a leading Boston yoga professional.

Amy has a 200-hour certification with Ganga White and Tracey Rich at the White Lotus Foundation. She credits her teaching to her two main influences, Barbara Benagh and Shiva Rea.

Her challenging vinyasa flow classes offer a perfect balance between strength and surrender. By infusing her classes with innovative sequencing, soul-stirring music, practical spirituality, and warm humor, she hopes to be an inspiration both on and off the mat.

Amy has been teaching in the Boston area for the past 6 years. She was just awarded Best Yoga Teacher in Boston by Boston Magazine.

Vinyasa Yoga Wiki
In discussing the Ashtanga Vinyasa system, a clear distinction must be made between ashtanga (lower-case 'a'), the eight (ashta) limbs of classical Raja Yoga, as outlined by Pantanjali in the Yoga Sutras, and Ashtanga (upper-case 'A'), which refers to the subject of this article.

Private Yoga Classes in Boston

Are Private Yoga Lessons for Me?

Beginners - Brand new beginners often feel intimidated walking into a yoga class for the first time. Taking a few private classes can give you the confidence and knowledge to feel comfortable in a group setting.

Intermediate/Advanced Students - Working one on one can help you to progress in your practice. You can learn how to work into advanced postures in a safe manner and be able to ask questions throughout the class.

Weekly Privates - Some students prefer the ease of working privately on a regular basis. You can set up a weekly time slot and enjoy the comfort of yoga in your own home.

Amy Leydon's Testimonials

Yoga's Best of Boston's Students Speak Out!

"I began my yoga journey in January 2003 when I walked into Amy's Yoga Basics class at the (former) Crunch Fitness in Downtown Crossing, not knowing my a$$ from my elbow. Well, the stars must've been aligned that Monday night, because from the moment I stepped onto that mat in Amy's class, I never looked back. Because of her clarity, compassion, confidence, and humor, I fell in love with the practice, and am now, almost five years later, a certified yoga teacher.

Amy has been such an inspiration to me. She's a truly amazing teacher and on top of that, one of the coolest chicks ever.

Best of Boston, indeed%u2026and one of the best anywhere, period." - Jonathan Ambar

"I feel so much better after taking a Yoga class with Amy. I highly recommend her services. She is a star on the rise." - Ed Ziskind

Amy's hiking and yoga weekend retreat was a great time! It was the perfect combination of relaxation, exercise and fun. Doing morning yoga at the AMC lodge while looking out the windows at the mountains was beautiful. Hiking the Crawford Notch mountains later in the day was challenging, yet rewarding. I would definitely recommend it to students of all levels!" - Janet Pye

"I have been taking Yoga with Amy for 10 months at my work. I had only taken one Yoga class before and I never went back because I thought it was not for me. After attending Amy's class I was hooked! She really showed all of us (who were beginners) the proper ways of holding the poses. She takes the time to explain and physically move you into the correct position. After a few months of class I could actually see my improvement and craved more. I planned all of my afterwork activities around Amy's class, because I did not want to miss it. She is a great teacher and I am lucky to have started with her." - Melanie Chaloner
