HERE'S WHAT I THINK ABOUT BOTOX FOR BEAUTY FOR CHILDREN

Should Kids Be Given Botox for Beauty?

I recently came across a story about a mother who gives her daughter Botox injections to remove wrinkles in her face. The child is 8 years old and participates in beauty pageants.

I have personally never liked to see children dressed up like models with make-up and adult hair styles, but I am disgusted by the idea of a parent injecting a child with Botox to remove wrinkles. Seriously, what wrinkles could an 8 year old have on her face that justifies such treatment?

I am also deeply concerned about the psychological effects for this child, or any child who is subjected to extreme beauty treatments of any kind.

I do wish to make it clear that this is not a debate about botox being used for Cerebral Palsy patients or other medical treatment. This is just about Botox for Beauty.

I think in this case the mother wanted to attract attention. She succeeded, but at what cost? Now we'll have new laws for people too stupid to use common sense.

Never

The very thought is revolting. And "beauty" in a child is very divorced from the sort of beauty that I suspect the injectors mean.

Now giving botox to children is stupid, plain and simple.

It's insane how much people spend on looking young and then go smoke, drink and bath in the sun. If good habits were thought to children, drink water get plenty of sleep, don't go in the sun without sunblock there would be no need for that bovine poison...I never sleep. :-(

Botox is a surgery to make beauty for people. Botox treatments becomes a very general experience in our daily life. But Botox treatment seems worst for children. It may affect badly for them. SO it is advisable to keep children away from children. But it is stil best for elders. For more information here. Botox pasadena

The botox is just the tip of the iceberg. What is this mother NOT admitting to? She should never get custody of that kid and be sterilized. She has major issues.
  • debnet May 20, 2011 @ 11:54 am | delete
It hadn't even occurred to me that some parents would do this... unbelievable. Blessed by a Squid Angel ;)
  • snakesmom May 19, 2011 @ 1:18 pm | delete
Unbelieveable that any parent would ever even consider Botox for their child. Sad.

Great topic. I consider giving Botox to children child abuse.

  • Tipi May 18, 2011 @ 12:28 pm | delete
Children just don't have wrinkles! I hadn't heard about this and watched the video and was appalled that this mother thinks its okay to do in the pageant world. I'm shaking my head.
  • simplyoasis May 17, 2011 @ 9:37 pm | delete
I do not agree with giving botox to a child!! But I'm more horrified that this child was removed from her mothers home. The interviewer stated there was nothing illegal about botox'ing children, ok then what laws did she break that the state removed her child? Don't jump on the band wagon and punish a family for doing something the public doesn't like!! If you feel so strongly about it change the laws and enforce them on all of those pageant mothers out there!!
  • PaulOnBooks May 19, 2011 @ 6:40 am | delete
I'd agree to an immediate assessment by social workers but I wouldn't have thought removal of the child was correct, unless there were other facrors or history not in the reports.

I have seen this story days ago and I was disgusted. Was the mother even thinking about what she did?
  • RetroMom May 16, 2011 @ 4:05 pm | delete
I think it should be a crime to do things like this to our children.
  • Mujjen May 16, 2011 @ 3:28 am | delete
How very sad. Here we are doing everything we can to make our children feel they are good the way they are. Building their confidence in themselves, giving them a healthy view of themselves. Chlidren have a right to be kids!
