WHAT I THINK: Bourbon-vs-Scotch
Bourbon-vs-Scotch: The Great Whiskey Debate
I am personally more of a bourbon fan. Here are a few of my reasons:1. Smoother
2. More availible at a reasonable price point.
3. Just tastes better ;)
Anyone who wants to send me a bottle of Scotch to proove me wrong is more than welcome!!
Let the games begin! Please tell me what you think.

Bourbon or Scotch and Why?
YOUR TURN!
Bourbon-vs-Scotch

Yes, you're right!
Austinite says:
You're right. I am fan of high end liquors of all kinds, especially tequila, cognac, whiskey, and, uh, whisky. It wasn't until recent years that I got turned on to high end bourbons, like Pappy Van Winkle, William Larue Weller, etc. While I love high end Scotch, it's complex and varied, high end bourbon is just a better tasting and more enjoyable drink. Complexity isn't everything.
nate says:
NOT! Get your tongue out of your you-know-what! Just kidding. Actually I started my whisky experience with bourbons and the first time I tried scotch I couldn't believe how much more complex it was. I'm currently developing my scotch palate and will be here for a while. That being said, with a little more cash on hand, why not enjoy both?
pete says:
Personally i I am not a big fan of scotch but I do enjoy bourbon and tennesse whiskey very much. I really think good whiskey is whatever that individual prefers
adamwilliam says:
Yes, I will support you, and its 100% true.

FRED says:
I CAN'T DRINK SCOTCH---TRIED SEVERAL TIMES, EVEN TOP BRANDS---IT'S LIKE TAKING MEDICINE
KSgirl says:
Bourbon is by far the best - a deeper, smoother taste. Try Elijah Craig and you'll never give it up!
Alan says:
I've been getting in touch with my American roots by drinking bourbon. Please tell me that Sarah Pailn drinks vodka or something.
ojayznowhere says:
hard to choose .. I'd go with Bourbon this time although after 10 minutes I might change my mind and come back and comment again for Scotch.
T says:
Good bourbon is awesome, cheap bourbon is drinkable. Good scotch is good, cheap scotch is piss.
Ben says:
Bourbon for the following reasons:
1. You don't need to spend $100 to get a quality bottle of bourbon. I've spent $30 on single-malts that taste like paint-thinner, whereas the same amount will get me a fifth of delicious Eagle Rare.
2. Bourbon is more manly and puts 23% more hair on your chest than Scotch. This is scientific fact.
3. Jack Daniels is NOT bourbon.
4. Color: Scotch looks like urine, whereas Bourbon has a deep, pleasing caramel hue.
Dave says:
I'm new to both bourbon and scotch. I've started off with bourbon and enjoy it a great deal. I ran my own bourbon tasting here: http://foodblogofdave.blogspot.com/2010/08/bourbon-tasting.html
I look forward to trying some scotch soon.
GPSglobal says:
Terrible choices here, but definitely Bourbon over Scotch anytime. Bourbon has more variance in flavors, while scotch always has a kind of funny gag with it, until 2 or 3 drinks and after that who cares?
Jim says:
Both are excellent. I find that switching back and forth between bourbon and scotch helps with the appreciation of both. After a few bourbons, a glass of Laphraoig Quarter Cask is soooo tasty. Then again, I wouldn't want to drink scotch all the time either. Think of it in beer terms: Just because I love English bitter doesn't mean I don't enjoy imperial stouts just as much. There are lots of whiskeys out there, become a connoisseur of them all!
DrinkedIn.net says:
Definitely agree. A good single barrel bourbon is smooth and a wonderful experience. I prefer Elijah Craig myself...
If I go with scotch - definitely prefer Oban or other quality Highlands.

No way, Monkeybrain!
davespeed says:
God, how I love them both! I'm having a bourbon as I enjoy your lens. But if you put a gun to my head and forced me to say which is better, I'd have to go with scotch. All the best.
Daniel says:
while i think bourbon is Smoother as far as i can tell they both do a great job of getting me drunk lol
kmcvay says:
Scotch, thank you.
Terren says:
I prefer Rye Whiskey
gregoryolney says:
Scotch whisky or Irish whiskey (note the difference in the spelling !) are far superior to Bourbon - in my view of course !
singlemaltdram says:
I'd have to say Scotch, because it's my new life's work. I'm not going to denegrate Bourbon though, I can't even remember the last time I tried it.
twilson17 says:
scotch! especially here in the UK, unbeatable
TobyAletha says:
Scotch! Its taste is extremely smooth and creamy. The finish is long, soft and warming with a spicy note. =)
artyfax says:
I find bourbon, quite tasteless and very sweet. The taste for a rich peaty whisky is one that has to be has to be aquired thru training.
halibound says:
well I got into scotch because of my childrens great grampa Jules... we have a glass every christmas and he swears by it :o) We get him a bottle of the expensive stuff once a year and he feels so special and anything that makes him smile is well worth the money.
BIBHUKDAS says:
Its like choosing between my to sons... :P
its not possible...both are dearer to me :)
Bluesssman says:
Scotch is so much better. More flavor and a great single malt, oh yea!!
Frank says:
Scotch has much more variety and speaks to my palate more than Bourbon.
epi 1:10,000 says:
Dam it, you telling me I have to choose one over the other. That is a terrifying decision to have to make.
Slainte Mhaiph!
Nick says:
Burbon is too sweet and Makers has an aftertaste of vomit. I've had several Scotches, all the way from super peaty to sherry smooth, I love them all.
What is your favorite whiskey or type of whiskey?

Scotch Whiskey Facts
Scotch whisky is divided into four distinct categories: single malt, vatted malt (also called "pure malt"), blended and single grain.
Legal definition
To be called Scotch whisky the spirit must conform to the standards of the Scotch Whisky Order of 1990 (UK),[1] which clarified the Scotch Whisky Act of 1988,[2] and mandates that the spirit:
1. Must be distilled at a Scottish distillery from water and malted barley, to which only other whole grains may be added, have been processed at that distillery into a mash, converted to a fermentable substrate only by endogenous enzyme systems, and fermented only by the addition of yeast.
