Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym

When it arrived I immediately set about to find the perfect spot to put the Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym. According to the instructions you need a workout area of approximately 100 inches ( 8'4") by 78 inches ( 6'6"). I decided to use ½ of my 2 car garage.

Since there is only 1 car in it anyways it fit perfect. I did however buy a small remnant of carpet from a local carpet store to put under the machine before I assembled it. I just like to have carpet under my feet while I workout so this worked fine. You don't even have to glue it down if you get the kind with the padding already on it.

The assembly manual that comes with it is easy to understand with plenty of detailed illustrations to help you get the job done. It took me about an hour and a half to get it fully assembled and ready to use. An online version of the assembly manual is available by clicking here .

They also include an owners manual that gives detailed workout schedules. But the one that came with the Bowflex PR3000 only had 27 exercises. You can go online by clicking here to get the guide for the extreme 2, that is very similar to the PR3000 and it has many more exercises that will work. The online guide for the Bowflex Extreme 2 also has a Home Gym Body Leanness Program that gives you meal plans to help you lose weight while you are doing the exercises on the Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym.

Here are some of the PROs and CONs that I have experienced while using the Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym.

Pro's

• Don't have to change the cables between exercises like you have to do with the Bowflex PR1000
  
• It was very easy to put together
  
• Had a noticeable change in physique in just one week of working the plan.
  
• Machine allows you to do a wide range of exercises without having to stroll through a public gym using machines that only God knows how many people (and their germs) have already used.
  
• Seat can be easily removed for doing the standing exercises.
  
• This machine will really save me money in the long run. My membership at the public gym was about $45.00 per month. With a purchase price on Amazon of $944.00 it will pay for itself in about 21 months, and that's not counting the money (and time) saved on gas driving to and fro.
  
• I saved about $436.00 by buying it from Amazon
  

Con's

• You Will need to get the upgrade for the extra 100 lbs of weight resistance (two more 50 pound rods). It is better to get it now and install it with the original system. I had to order it later (and assemble it later) and it was a little bit of a pain to do it after the machine is already assembled.
  
• It has some limitations compared to a free weight system. The weights on the resistance rods seem somewhat less than a free weight piece of equipment would be.
  
  

I have been using the Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym for about four weeks now and I must say I am very impressed with it. I have lost about 10 pounds (probably could have done better if it wasn't football season, with the inherent dangers to your diet of beer and chicken wings every weekend). My physical appearance is very noticeable with my pants having to be cinched in a bit now. I forgot to mention this in the "Con's", having to buy all new clothes when you start to lose the weight and gain the muscles. O' well I can live with that I guess.
