Increase Your Average With Simple Bowling Tips

Bowling is a lot of fun for a lot of people, but It's not the easiest game to master and a lot of people struggle with it. You're probably one of them. I know I'm one of them. I love to bowl. I've been bowling since I was a child, and I can't help but continue to bowl. It's my favorite sport.

Of course, like any other sport it takes a lot of practice and patience to really get good at bowling. That doesn't mean that you can't get good at bowling. In fact, bowling is a game that is very easy to start to learn and to get good enough to really enjoy. Yet, it can take years to master. It's a game he will last your whole life.

Since I've been bowling for a long time, I've put together this page to give you a lot of ideas on ways to improve your bowling game. My father taught me how to bowl, and he was an excellent bowler. Now it's my turn to pass on the knowledge to you.

Top 10 Bowling Tips

as a way to make this page more useful in putting together a list of 10 tips here that you can use to improve your bowling average. You won't be outstanding overnight, but it could add another 10 or 20 pins on to your average after a month or two of practice.

1. Line Up Your Feet - a lot of bowlers don't realize that foot placement is excessively important to how you throw your ball. even moving your feet over one or two words to the left or right can make the difference between a strike and a split. Try and keep your feet in the same spot on your first ball in each frame for a game to experiment with aiming and to develop a consistent shot.

2. Pick A Target On The Lane - professional bowlers don't aim at the pins, they aim at a spot on the lane. This is because bowling is a game of geometry, and if you put your ball in the right spot at the right speed. It will go where you wanted to go. It's simple physics. Thus, the combination of foot placement in picking a target on the Lane determines where the ball ends up. If you can consistently hit her target, you can more consistently make your spares and your strikes.

3. Practice Often - the thing that is going to help you more than anything else is practice. It sounds clichéd, but it's true. Bowling is a sport that takes years to master and practice is the best way to gain the muscle memory required to be consistently good bowler.

4. Cover Your Spares - most bowlers worry about strikes too much. That is the wrong approach. Instead, players should focus on covering every single spare. Sometimes strikes are just a matter of luck, but spares are always a matter of skill. practice hitting all your single pin spares so that it becomes like clockwork. That way, if you can even add one spare per game, you are likely adding another 8 to 10 pins to your total.

5. Leave Easy Spare Attempts - this goes along with Alaska. If you knock down eight or nine pence, or leave the pins in a cluster, it makes for a much easier spare. Covering your spares is key to scoring well, and leaving a lot of splits makes it that much harder to cover your spares.

6. Get Your Own Shoes - bowling alley shoes are terrible. Most of the time, they don't even know I need to get a decent slide. Even when they are decent, they still aren't great. Owning your own shoes will help you have a consistent slide and a consistent approach every time. Consistency is key.

7. Get Your Own Ball - again, bowling alley equipment is not high quality equipment. Bowling eyeballs are made of plastic and not resin or urethane. So they are not able to curve the same way that modern bowling ball should. That means you aren't going to get the kind of consistent performance and skill level that you would from owning your own ball. Even if you're just starting out, you can buy a relatively cheap ball at a local sporting goods shop for under $100 that will serve you much better and have a custom fit your hand.

8. Join A League - joining the league is a great way to get a lot of practice and have a lot of fun. Often times , leaves can be a bit cheaper than regular bowling and you can make friends with other people who love to bowl. Just like you. Bowling every week is the best way to improve your game because you will become more consistent, and you'll be in more different scenarios for picking up stairs and understanding lane conditions.

9. Make Small Adjustments - adjust only one part of your swing at a time. If you change two or three things at once is hard to tell what worked and what didn't. If you move too far to the left or to the right with your feet or with your target, they could throw you off. Bowling is a game of very small adjustments that can make a big impact.

10. Have Fun! - don't get too serious about the game of bowling. Bowling is a game that is meant to be played for fun and enjoyment. Competition is great, by it's only great in the context of having fun doing what you enjoy.

Bowling Leagues Are Cheap Practice

You can save money by joining a bowling league

One of the cheapest ways that you can learn to be a better bowler is to join a league. Joining the league is a great way to get a lot of practice in. Not only that, but since you are in a league that the cost per game is usually much cheaper than if you just went to the alley and paid for normal bowling. This is especially true for youth bowling. Bowling alleys for a long time have been using youth leagues as a way to get young kids hooked on bowling. It worked for me.

Not only is the cost per game a bit cheaper in the league, but it also gets you to the bowling alley once a week to play a few games. A little bit of practice goes a long ways and practicing every week can make you a much better bowler. Over the course of a year or two. Also, being in a bowling league puts you with people who are also avid bowlers. So they might be able to give you some ideas to get better.

if you ever thought of being a tournament bowler, you owe it to yourself to join the league and to improve your skills. Good luck and bowl some strikes!

The guy in the video is doing candlepin bowling, which is a bit different than traditional bowling. The ball is smaller and the pins are like candlesticks. Anyway, this guy has some serious misfortune and gets completely hosed on a spare which costs him the match. Live and learn.
