Learn how to purchase cheap BCS bowl tickets. It's possible for average football fans to see the bowl games for face value if they're willing to put in a little effot.
Right now most fans are interested in tickets to the BCS National Championship game, but there's good reason to be thinking about tickets to the other BCS bowl games. First let me give you a quick summary of the new BCS bowl game. Beginning with the bowl games played after the 2006 season, the NCAA added a fifth BCS bowl to determine college football's national champion. This game will be hosted by the Sugar Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl, and Rose Bowl once every four years.
Since this game has recently been added to the Bowl Championship Series, the ticket details are still rather sketchy, but I do know face value is $275 each. I also know that Fiesta Bowl season ticket holders were offered the same seats for the BCS National Championship game this year. I have also heard the Orange Bowl will make this same offer to season ticket holders when it hosts the game in 2008.So one of the best ways to score cheap National Championship tickets is to become a season ticket holder for one of the other four BCS bowl games. Here's how you can get these tickets.
FIESTA BOWL
Unfortunately, at this late date, the Fiesta Bowl is sold out. You'll have to pay more than face value if you want to see the game this year.
SUGAR BOWL
Unfortunately the Sugar Bowl is also sold out, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't start thinking about tickets for next year's game. You'll have to pay more than face value if you want to see the game this year.
ROSE BOWL
These are arguably the most difficult BCS bowl tickets to obtain for face value, but it is still possible. Each year the Tournament of Roses offers a small allotment of tickets to the general public through TicketMaster. While the actual number isn't widely publicized, I've read it's 1000 tickets. Face value for these tickets is $135 plus the ever-present handling fees.
This year the sale begins on Tuesday, December 5th at 8:00 AM PST. You can place your order by calling (213) 365-3675 or by surfing over to www.ticketmaster.com. Each buyer will be limited to 2 tickets per order, and a maximum of four tickets total. Single tickets will also be available. Rest assured these tickets will sell out within minutes, so I would encourage you to enlist the assistance of friends and family members to improve your odds.
For you lucky Pasadena fans, the Tournament of Roses will sell a select number of tickets to Pasadena residents at the Pasadena Civic Center Box Office on Saturday, December 2nd. Your guess is as good as mine on what "select number" means, but each buyer will be limited to two tickets. Buyers must show a picture ID with a Pasadena address or a valid California picture ID with a phone bill, utility bill, or other document establishing Pasadena residency.
The method and timing of the sale is as follows:
- 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM - Buyers will be allowed to line up beginning at 7:00 AM. No line-ups will be allowed before 7:00 AM.
- 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM - Random numbered armbands will be given to all buyers in line.
- 9:00 AM - A random starting number will be called, and buyer will line up based on their numbered armband..
- 10:00 AM - Ticket sales will begin.
ORANGE BOWL
The good news is the Orange Bowl is currently selling ticket packages! Yes that's right. As of November 16th, there were still tickets available.
Ticket packages can be purchased directly from the Orange Bowl at http://tinylink.com/?gRkxiVcNwd. I have summarized the available packages below.
The Patron package - $435 for 2 game tickets
The 4th Quarter package - $850 for 4 game tickets
The 1st and Ten package - $2,045 for 10 game tickets
The Blitz package - $4,050 for 20 games tickets
These package include other perks like paid parking, official program, Orange Bowl patches, and tickets to several tailgate and pregame parties.
