Intro from the Lensmaster

I'm a beginning woodturner. I've had my lathe now for about 3 years, but I've mostly been turning pens and other smaller projects in that time. Now I want to expand my horizons and make the plunge into larger projects where I can really express my creativity. I want to learn how to turn beautiful bowls. So as I research the topic of bowl turning, I'm going to post the useful information that I find here so that we can learn together!

Bowl Turning Videos On Youtube.com

I love Youtube.com. Where else can you see the Star Wars Kid deftly wielding a lightsaber one second and a woodturner teaching you how to turn a bowl the next? Here are some great bowl turning instructional videos I found on Youtube. These are video clips from the Artists In Residence series produced by Chris Anderson. In this series of videos, JT Dunphy shows you the whole process of turning a bowl from start to finish. Good stuff!

Artists In Residence (AiR)

What is "Airtists in Residence"? It is a series of documentary-style videos showing various artists working their creative processes in their chosen medium. From the Airtists in Residence website:

"The aim of ARTinRES is to give viewers a "behind the scenes" look at working artists in order to de-mystify the creative process, heighten appreciation for the artistic community's contribution to our lives, and to reveal the commitment artists make to their work."

To learn more about AiR visit the AiR Squidoo Lens or the AiR website.
