Our 95 pound lap dog...Clyde!
Absolutely no black lab!!!
Or so they said!
We met Clyde while visiting our local MSPCA. We went in looking for a little dog but came out with a miniature pony!!Clyde was 4 mos. old when we adopted him. We were told that he was a Staffordshire Terrier/Rottweiler mix...had absolutely no black lab in him! Well, until recently we have never really known his true make. The vet told us he most likely had Great Dane in him mixed with a little Rottie or Mastiff. Everyone who sees him offers their opinion but none of them ever quite fit...
until I stumbled across a website that had a picture of a dog just like our Clyde. I couldn't believe my eyes! There was our dog! The poor thing whose background we thought would always remain a mystery!
Turns out someone out there decided to try mixing boxers and labs and ended up with one heck of a dog.
He's a boxador, not a pitbull, rottie, etc.!
First impressions suck!
Our poor Clyde has run into alot of discrimination in his first two years. Even when he was a puppy and couldn't control his long legs, people would pull their dogs away from him. "Oh, is that a pitbull?", they would ask. I can see where they may think that as he does have a big blocky head but his legs are 2 or 3 times longer than a pits! He stand more like a Great Dane which led to most of the confusion.Yes, Clyde is very tall and yes, he is a black dog with a big blocky head BUT he is the sweetest thing ever. He believes that he is a lap dog and that he should be allowed to sleep on our queen size bed with us. Being a pound puppy, he tends to want to be with us no matter what. Heck, he'll follow you to the potty if you let him!
Clyde is also a very social dog to those who will actually let him play with their pooches! He goes to doggie daycare 2/3 times a week and hangs with a pack! He has no aggression issues whatsoever! But yet...
he is always the one to get yelled at when a little dog almost bites him! He is the other people drag their dogs away from when he just wants to play! He is the one people will walk far away from to avoid his falsely perceived viciousness.
Enough is enough. Just because a dog is big, blocky and black does not a killer make!!
Clyde says..."Some of my best friends are puggles!"
