Boxer Dog Breed!

If you can't tell, I love Boxers. They are adorable family pets. They are people oriented dogs. My adventure into the Boxer breed comes from my husband, he grew up with boxers. We had just lost our Minature Schnauzer that we had for 12 years. She was more my dog than my husband's. Anyway, We were looking for something to get for Father's Day, and the boys talked me into checking out this puppy they had found in the paper. We made a trip out there and boy I was hooked from the moment I saw him. He was sitting there all by himself. Looking adorable. So as you can imagine, we took him home with us. We were able to suprise him for Father's Day with a boxer puppy. He was really touched and, of course, fell in love with him the minute he saw him. The rest is history. They are inseparable. He has a definite personality too. He is one of the family!!!! We have had a lot of adventures and probably will continue to have them. Boxers make wonderful pets.

Cool Man! I'm ready to go for a ride.

Boxer Breed

Developed in Germany, the Boxer is a breed of stocky, medium-sized, short-haired dog. The coat is smooth and fawn or brindled, with or without white markings. Boxers are brachycephalic (they have broad, short skulls), and have a square muzzle, mandibular prognathism (an underbite), very strong jaws and a powerful bite ideal for hanging on to large prey. The Boxer was bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser and is part of the Molosser group.

Boxers were first exhibited in a dog show for St. Bernards at Munich in 1895, the first Boxer club being founded the next year. Based on 2008 American Kennel Club statistics, Boxers are the sixth most popular breed of dog in the United States for the second year in a row?moving up in 2007 from the seventh spot, which they'd held since 2002?with 33,548 new dog registrations during the year.

My son and daughter-in-law own a boxer, my grand-pup, so we are quite familiar with their nutty personalities. He's a brindle with un-cropped ears, like the one on the left in the picture up above on this lens. Rocky is definitely a very important part of the family. He's adorable!
