The Argument For Boxing Being The Best

Why boxing is better than mmaBoxing's history dates back to the first Olympics and has been filled with some of the best athletes in the world such as Muhammad Ali, George Forman, Mike Tyson, Rocky Marciano, and Sugar Ray Robinson. In its prime it would fill Vegas casinos and sell millions of paper view packages every month. Crowds would come from around the world to see Mike Tyson destroy opponents and Muhammad Ali talk trash. At the peak of boxing there wasn't a sport more exciting than boxing, but in recent years boxing has declined in popularity due to the rise of the UFC and lack of quality fights.

Mixed Martial Arts

The Argument For MMA Being Superior

Why MMA is bestMixed Martial Arts can be dated back to the early 1900's where is was made popular in Europe, Japan, and the Pacific Rim. In 1993 MMA was brought to the United States with the creation of the UFC. The Ultimate Fighting Championship started out with very few rules, and was seen as somewhat underground. The fights take place in a caged octagon that the fighters are locked inside for the duration of the fight. In mixed martial arts there are multiple ways to defeat your opponent, you can knock them out or make them submit with an arm bar or choke hold. In recent years the UFC has become very popular overtaking boxing in payper view orders, viewership and merchandise sales. Some of the notable fighters in the history of the UFC are Randy Couture, Chuck Liddell, and Brock Lesner.

Boxing

anon says:

boxing is by far my favorite sport in the world. i hate how mma fans disrespect boxing/boxers, it really turned me off from mma. also after watching boxing for so long, watching striking in mma is really hard to watch it looks horrible.

jesse says:

boxing all the way

joe says:

boxing all the way

Immature_Entrepreneur says:

Boxing all the way. MMA may be more popular according to the mainstream at the moment, but popularity does not make it the better sport.

the777group says:

As an ex-Kung Fu guy I should say MMA but boxing is more dramatic.

RecipeSquid says:

my vote goes to boxing!! Theres nothing like watching a classic Evander Holyfield or Mike Tyson bout!

bluesocialmedia says:

There is nothing in the world like a great boxing match. Back in the day when tyson would fight there was noth more electric

MMA

kobe says:

MMA is a Sport on the rise and for many reasons. Dont get me wrong I love boxing too but it seems like the talent has washed away in rescent years. Theirs only 2 fighters i follow in Boxing Pacman and Mayweather. Their exciting and their 2 of the best in the sport.. MMA on the other hand is full of exciting individuals! and theirs fights every week. You will See this sport in the Olympics some day.

mmakicksboxing says:

mma all the way go GSP

zachary tillery says:

We all saw what happened when that fatass james toney tried to step into the ring with a "natural" MMA fighter. Boxing lost, and fast, AND it made boxing look even worse than it is, and thats pretty bad. Boxing has great fans and great, dedicated, fighters, but between MMA and the rise or full contact sports, it stands no chance popularity wise and competition wise.

Chris The Juggernaut Stemler says:

As someone who practices MMA listen guys it doesn't matter I hear a lot of good arguments but you can't compare the two its like saying baseball is less extreme than football well duh theres more rules against what you can do I mean a few boxers have converted MMA I mean rocky marciano back in his prime if he would have been taught Judo greco BJJ and maybe a little tae kwon do with his boxing nothing could have stopped him so guys I mean its unfair but of course I say MMA is better sorry..

MMA ALL DAY says:

MMA all day. Been watching since 1995 and it is way more fun to watch.

Tal says:

MMA all the way, last century belonged to boxing, this century belongs to MMA

roy says:

guys this debate was over in 1993 when boxer Art Jimmerson tapped without even being in a submission hold, and when mma fighter VĂtor Belfort went to boxing and beat Josemario Neves, and once again when boxer James Toney ran his mouth about ufc until Randy Couture shut it. reality check for all the boxers out there, the beautiful science isnt landing a nice combo of jabs and a cross its gettinga full mount and deciding between an armbar or triangle choke finish. boxing wouldnt beat anyone with a ground game, the only hope would be a lucky one hit knock out punch, hard to do though when your tapping

RV says:

MMA all the way! It takes well rounded skills to compete in MMA. You also need good cardio since you are going to war for 5 minutes at a time.

hybridmoment1904 says:

Being a student of both, I prefer MMA. Saying that, there is a certain nostalgic feeling that I get when I box or watch boxing. Boxing purest are hard to welcome MMA in the mainstream but I like both. Pugilism is one of the oldest forms of competition, its bound to evolve.

EDWRD01 says:

MMA for sure, way more to learn in it and it takes more skill and thinking than boxing IMO

humboldt84 says:

MMA all the way!! I love how one has to train in several disciplines to be good at mma.
