Bra Shopping Tips for Guys

How to find the perfect bra for your wife or girlfriend.

The right bra is a romantic, sexy gift that says you love your lady's body. Look for a bra to please both of you. Of course, this requires that you know a little about what fits her and what she likes to wear. Here's what you need to find out before you start shopping:

  • What's her bra size?
    • Sneak a look at the tag on a bra of hers that fits well. If your wife or girlfriend cuts out the tags on her bras (I do this; I can't stand anything itchy), ask one of her close friends. If they don't know, go back to the source herself. Asking your woman about her bra size is better than guessing and possibly being wrong.

  • Does she have a favorite bra?
    • If so, why does she love it? Note the brand name, fabric, style and shape. Don't get her exactly the same thing in a different color, but do check out other bras with that same brand name.

  • What's her taste in lingerie?
    • Some women like feminine bras and underwear, the kind with girly details like bows and lace; others prefer minimal decoration. Know what styles your wife or girlfriend likes, and try to choose a gift that fits her taste.

  • Don't go overboard on the padding.
    • You don't want her to think you don't love her curves just as they are. Also, mega-padded push-up bras are often rather painful to wear. If she's petite, check out sexy lace bralettes with minimal coverage from brands like Honeydew and Hanky Panky. For a voluptuous figure, do look at underwire bras, as she will probably need the extra support. Le Mystere and Chantelle make beautiful lingerie for larger cup sizes.

Best Fits for Bra Size AA

The itty bitty AA-list.

There are precious few bras designed especially for AA cups. Fortunately, in some styles the A cup bra size is small enough to fit most women who wear a size AA.

I'm usually a true size 32AA, except when I've gained enough weight to be able to fill out an A cup (that's always exciting... until the weight comes off, and then it's bye-bye curves).
