Guide To Bra Sizing - You'll Feel Better All Day!

Your Guide to Bra Sizing and Problem Solving

Are you wearing a bra that does not fit properly? Here is a quick and easy guide to help you find your correct bra size. You will need two measurements:

1. Band measurement (underneath the breast)

2. Breast measurement (fullest part of the breast)

Determine band measurement: Measure the ribcage under the breast. Do this without clothing. Keep the tape parallel to the floor (straight across), making sure that the tape is flat over your skin, snug but not tight. Also, make sure it is not drooping in the back.

If your measurement is an even number then add 4", if it is an odd number then add 5"

For example: If the measurement is 31", then add 5" and now your bra size is 36".

If the measurement is 30", then add 4" and now your bra size is 34".

Determine your cup size: Measure around the chest over and including the fullest part of your bust (usually at the level of the nipples). Take this measurement while wearing a comfortable, unpadded bra. This measurement includes the chest breast. Now, take the chest breast number and subtract your band size number.

The difference between these two measurements is your cup size:

            -1"        AA

              1"        A

              2"        B

              3"        C

              4"        D

              5"        DD

              6"        DDD (F)

              7"        G

              8"        H

For example: Chest Breast measurement is 44". Your determined band size is 40". The difference is 4". Therefore, your cup is size D.

Simple problem solvers:

Problem: Band rides up on your back

Solution: Tighten hook and eye closure and/or loosen the straps. If that doesn't work, buy a bra with a smaller band size

Problem: Band digs in

Solution: Buy a bra with a larger band or with a wider band

Problem: Breast fall out of the cups

Solution: Buy a bra with a bigger cup size

Problem: Underwire is sitting on your breast, instead of your breast sitting on the underwire

Solution: Buy a bra with a smaller band size and with the cup at lease one size larger

Problem: Straps fall down

Solution: Shorten strap length. If that doesn't work, buy a bra one cup size smaller.

Problem: Bra slides up

Solution: Shorten the hook and eye closure or loosen straps. If that doesn't work buy a bra with a smaller band size.

Problem: Straps leave marks on shoulders or shoulders are sore

Solution: Loosen straps slightly. If that doesn't work, but a bra with more support

Problem: Bust line sags

Solution: Shorten straps. Buy a bra with more support. Avoid bras with stretchy materials

Note: Your bra size can change often due to weight loss/gain, pregnancy, etc. It is recommended that you check your bra size at least once every six months.
