It's not just about the beer...or the free parties...or the t-shirts. It's about the people, but not all of the people.
There is a new generation of online movers and shakers. We have come together for this brief period in history to make history. I want to document it here...on this, one of our own offspring.
In the words of Enric:
"This makes me think of the Modernist movements between WWI and WWII that included Hemingway, Ezra Pound, Picasso, D.H. Lawrence, Virginia Woolf, James Joyce, William Faulkner, T.S. Eliot, Jean Cocteau, Franz Kafka, Salvador Dali, Duchamp, Man Ray, et. al. They created and consumed, collaborated and competed leaving a rich multi-media of photography, film, writing, and other media to societies."
Okay, so the critics are right, we ain't Ezra Pound or Picasso, but we do gather and have ideas and passion and want to change the world in significant ways. Oh, and we gather in various places and groupings to discuss how we are going to do it.
And...for those of you really young BratPackers, the original brat pack included Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy. More information about this time period can be found here. The 'Brat Pack' was in reference to the 'Rat Pack', which included Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean martin and more...information here. Lauren Becall, one of my personally favourite actors of all time named this group, based on their drunken antics.
