Brave Soundtrack

This animated fantasy adventure set in 10th century Scotland was supposed to be directed by Brenda Chapman (The Prince of Egypt), and would have made her Pixar's first female director. But Pixar had other ideas and assigned Mark Andrews to direct "Brave". Andrews has two short films (Violet, One Man Band) to his directorial credit.
"Brave", previously titled "The Bear and the Bow" is Pixar's first fairy tale animation and their first to feature a female protaganist. The film is co-written by Brenda Chapman who conceived the project, and Irene Mecchi (The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, The Lion King 1 1/2).
The plot follows Merida, the skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor. Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land and inadvertently unleashes chaos and fury in the kingdom. She turns to an eccentric old Witch for help where she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it's too late.
The stars (voices) are Kelly Macdonald (Princess Merida), Billy Connolly (King Fergus) and Emma Thompson (Queen Elinor). Other stars include Kevin McKidd, Robbie Coltrane, Julie Walters and Craig Ferguson.

Scorer for "Brave" is twice Academy nominated Patrick Doyle (Rise of Planet of the Apes, Thor). The film's soundtrack featuring Patrick Doyle's original score will be released on audio CD on June 19, 2012. It is now available to pre-order from Amazon.
