Some women still use the traditional method of shaving the bikini area. The new advanced electric shavers for women make shaving the intimate area much smoother than in the past.

Traditionally bikini waxing removes the hair that is visible around the edges of the swimsuit. While bikini waxing is still popular with many women, the trend towards Brazilian waxing is rapidly growing.

The Brazilian wax is without a question the best method to get a smooth, clean look and feel in the bikini area. Another plus is that results last for up to 3 or 4 weeks.
What is a Bikini Wax?
Your regular bikini wax uses the application of warm wax along the bikini line. A length of cloth is applied to the warm wax, and then going against the direction of hair growth quickly ripped off - taking the underlying hair with it.
What is a Brazilian Wax?
Brazilian waxing goes beyond the traditional waxing job and involves the removal of the hair from around the bikini area.
To accomplish this the entire area is covered first with talcum powder and then a hot oil is applied. The hair is removed the same way as with regular bikini waxing - pressing a strip of cloth on top of the oil and ripping it off, going against the direction of hair growth.,
Slightly different techniques may be used by different beauty therapist. Some will use a strip of cloth, as in regular waxing, others will allow the hot wax to cool, which kind of "shrink wraps" the hairs, pulling them out by their roots. Tweezers are used to pull any stray hairs. A soothing lotion is then applied to the involved areas.
There are many variations of the bikini wax. Below are some of the latest waxing trends.
