Brazil is a huge country with a wide variety of things to do for a tourist, from city breaks in Salvador and Rio de Janeiro to the beautiful waterfalls at Iguacu and for the more adventurous traveler, the jungle near the Amazon and Rio Negro rivers and Manaus.

I have written four separate articles about these diverse locations: travel tips, advice, recommendations and places to stay in Brazil. Please follow the links below...

"The Most Beautiful City in the World"

Where better to start a vacation in Brazil?

The self proclaimed "Most Beautiful City in the World" is also a useful travel hub with a major airport and regular flights. Rio is one of the most striking cities in the world with the incredible natural beauty of the vertical rocky hills and the coastline and of course the huge statue of Jesus Christ on standing high up above the city.

Here is my full review and travel tips for this wonderful city:

Iguacu Waterfalls, Brazil and Argentina

Possibly the most beautiful waterfalls in the world; 275 of them, in a crescent between Argentina and Brazil. They are mostly in Argentina, but the best views are on the Brazilian side. There are plenty of things to do in this romantic location. An ideal spot for a honeymoon or a short stay on a more comprehensive tour of Brazil or Argentina. There are boat trips next to the falls at the bottom, paths to walk along at the top, a small bird park and a few hotels including Hotel Tropical Das Cataratas which is right next to the falls on the Brazilian side.

The Amazon Jungle Experience: Rio Negro

For the more adventurous traveler go and stay in the Amazon jungle near Manaus in northern Brazil, on the banks of the Rio Negro. It is possible to stay in a floating hotel (a "floatel") in the Jungle, or at Manaus "The Paris of the Tropics" which is just a short boat trip from small villages on the banks of the Amazon. My preference is the jungle option, but many may prefer to the return to Manaus each evening to recover from a hard days pirana fishing, caiman (alligator) spotting or shopping at the small craft shops in some of the villages.

Salavador, The Carnival City in Brazil

The Carnival City.

Salvador is the city Brazilians go to for carnival. Culturally and historically interesting and an excellent tourist friendly location, with the wonderful mix of African and European influences in both cuisine and music. A vibrant place to stay for a few days.
