The Origin of Bread and Butter Pudding

One of the earliest bread and butter pudding recipes dates back to the 1700's when the pudding was referred to as Whitepot. As the story goes it was called whitepot because of the color of the ingredients, the color of which was considered to be "glistening white" in the pot. Once baked it turns a delectable golden brown.

How to Make a French Bread

Brush with melted butter after cooked.

Ingredients

1 teaspoon active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups flour

1.) In a mixing bowl mix the yeast and water. Let it rest for 10 minutes until it foams.
2.) Add salt.
3.) Carefully add approximately 1 1/2 cups of flour, mix well.
4.) Lightly flour the counter top and place the dough on the flour.
5.) Knead the dough adding flour if necessary to create the right consistency. 8 to 10 minutes.
6.) Put the dough in a clean mixing bowl and cover. Let it rise for one hour.
7.) Place bread in a greased loaf pan. If a french loaf pan in not available you can shape them your self on a greased cookie sheet and bake
for 30 minutes at 425 degrees.
