Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

Whether you are rich, poor, or middle class, it doesn't matter; breaking up can be one of the hardest moments for anyone.

Regret, anger, and sadness often follow a break up. It's normal to feel pain, let tears flow, and feel sorry about something you may have said or done in the past. Nonetheless, it doesn't make the break up any easier knowing that there are others who are going through the exact same thing.

Ways to get over a break up

Avoid being friends - at least at first.
Being friends with someone you just broke up with can only make things worse. Likely, this person was one of your best friends during the relationship so it is natural for wanting that part of the relationship to continue. However, it isn't always the best choice emotionally. Take a break and after a while, if you both still want to, continue being friends.

Learn from it
Try to learn from the relationship. What mistakes did you make? What mistakes did your partner make? What did you learn about yourself? What did you learn about the type of person you want to be with?

Rid yourself of the ex
You probably have photographs, previous gifts, and other memorabilia of your ex somewhere near you right now. Get rid of it! You don't have to throw it away, but put it somewhere you won't see it. My suggestion: the back of the closet.

Surround yourself with friends and family
Relationships come and go but family will always be there and so will your best friends. Talk to them, spend time with them, and laugh with them. It's amazing what a little time with loved ones can accomplish.

Don't regret it
Never regret being in a relationship and never regret breaking it off. Things happen, deal with it. If nothing else, it was a learning experience for the both of you. You now know what you like and what to look for next time in someone.

Keep a diary or journal
Keeping your feelings bottled up can do more harm than good, but so can exploding on someone. Therefore, keep a diary. Write out your feelings!

Do the things you love
Instead of thinking about the relationship, continue doing the things you love. Spend time with your friends and do your hobbies (or find new ones. Whatever you do, just have fun.

Be active
Keeping your mind and body active is a great way to make time pass and forget your feelings.
