Breakfast in a shot glass: How to make drinks that taste like breakfast foods

Ranked #866 in Food & Cooking, #17,216 overall

Breakfast and Booze

I believe that some of the best alcoholic beverages are inspired by food. Breakfast foods, in particular, translate well into alcoholic drinks, and make for surprisingly delicious, easy-to-make novelty creations. Impress your friends - serve them breakfast in a shot glass.

Pancake Shot

The Pancake ShotLike pancakes and syrup? Then you'll love this shot! Appropriately dubbed the Pancake Shot, this drink tastes just like sweet, syrupy pancakes. An homage to the most important meal of the day, in a celebratory shot.

Pancake Shot

1 oz. Jameson whiskey
1 oz. Butterscotch schnapps

Pour ingredients into a shot glass and enjoy. This shot is excellent with a side of OJ and a strip of bacon.

Not a big whiskey fan? An alternate but equally delicious version can be made with beer.

(Alternate) Pancake Shot

2 oz. Guinness
2 oz. Butterscotch schnapps

Gently stir ingredients together in a glass and enjoy.

Or perhaps you are a fan of blueberry pancakes?

Blueberry Pancake Shot

Waffle Shot

1 oz. Vodka
1 oz. Butterscotch Schnapps
1 oz. Orange Juice

Pour all ingredients into a shaker filled with ice. Shake well. Strain into a shot glass and enjoy. This shot is excellent with a side of sausage links.

Another tasty variation on the Waffle Shot is made with Bakon Vodka. If you happen to have a bottle (or have infused your own bacon vodka) and are looking for creative drink recipes, try this one.

Waffle Shot (with Bakon vodka)

1 oz. Bakon Vodka
1 oz. Pinnacle Whipped Vodka

This shot can be served and consumed chilled or at room temperature, depending on preference. For room temperature, simply pour ingredients in a shot glass. For a chilled shot, shake with ice, strain into a shot glass, and enjoy.

Note: Not a substitute for breakfast.

French Toast Shot

French Toast ShotEnjoy French toast? Then the French Toast Shot is for you! This drink tastes just like a slice of cinnamon-dusted French toast with hints of syrupy goodness.

French Toast Shot

1 part Butterscotch Schnapps
1 part Cinnamon Schnapps
1 part Bailey's Irish Cream

(Bacon) Cinnamon Roll Shot

(Bacon) Cinnaom Roll ShotIf you're a fan of fresh-baked goods, you might enjoy this next drink creation. Dubbed the Cinnamon Roll Shot, this drink tastes just like a fresh, gooey cinnamon roll.

Cinnamon Roll Shot

2/3 oz. Bailey's Irish Cream
1/3 oz. Cinnamon Schnapps

Pour the Bailey's into a shot glass, and top it off with the cinnamon schnapps. Enjoy! This shot is excellent when followed by a tall glass of milk.

Looking for a breakfast shot with more 'substance'? Just add bacon! A little concoction thought up by yours truly, the Bacon Cinnamon Roll Shot is made with homemade bacon vodka or Bakon vodka.

Bacon Cinnamon Roll shot

2/3 oz. Bailey's Irish Cream
1/3 oz. Cinnamon Schnapps
1/2 oz. Bacon Vodka

Pour the Bailey's and bacon vodka into a shot glass, and top with the cinnamon schnapps. Stir gently. Enjoy! A word of caution: consume immediately as the drink may curdle over time.

Note: Not a substitute for breakfast.

Blueberry Muffin Shot

Blueberry Muffin ShotAre you a blueberry muffin fan? Then you'll love this shot! Appropriately dubbed the Blueberry Muffin Shot, this drink tastes just like a tart and sweet blueberry muffin.

Blueberry Muffin Shot

2 oz. Chambord Raspberry Liqueur
2 oz. Tequila Rose Strawberry Cream Liqueur
2 splashes of Milk

Mix all ingredients together in a shaker filled with ice. Shake. Pour into a glass and enjoy! This shot is excellent with a milk chaser.

Light on cash? Try substituting Raspberry Schnapps in place of Chambord. Or, try this alternate version:

(Alternate) Blueberry Muffin Shot

1/2 oz. Irish Cream
1/2 oz. Triple Sec
1/2 oz. Blueberry Vodka

Mix all ingredients together in a shaker filled with ice. Shake. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

Note: Not a substitute for breakfast.

Wild Berry Pop-Tart Shot

Wild Berry Pop-Tart ShotAre you a fan of pre-packaged breakfast goods? If so, you may enjoy the Wild Berry Pop-Tart Shot, which tastes just like a sugar-loaded faux-fruit flavored toaster oven confection.

Wild Berry Pop-Tart Shot

1 part Wildberry Vodka
1 part Vodka
1 part Strawberry Schnapps

This shot can be enjoyed chilled or at room temperature. For room temperature, pour all ingredients together and stir gently. For chilled, pour all ingredients into a shaker filled with ice and shake. Pour into a shot glass, shoot, followed promptly with a beer. Enjoy!

Don't have strawberry schnapps on hand? The beauty of this recipe is that several different schnapps flavors can be used to craft a berry-flavored pop-tart shot suited to your personal preference. I recommend trying this recipe with cherry schnapps, blueberry schnapps, and raspberry schnapps.

Note: Not a substitute for breakfast.

Jam Donut Shot

Jam Donut ShotEnjoy jam-filled donuts? Then you'll love this shot! Appropriately dubbed the Jam Donut Shot, this drink tastes just like a raspberry-flavored jam-filled bakery confection.

Jam Donut Shot

2/3 oz. Irish cream
1/3 oz. Raspberry Liqueur
1 tsp. Simple Syrup or Grenadine
2 pinches Sugar

Coat the rim of a shot glass with sugar using simple syrup (grenadine) to stick. Add raspberry liqueur to the shot glass, and carefully layer the Irish Cream on top. If raspberry is not your "filling" of choice, experiment with other liquers (cherry, strawberry, etc.). Enjoy!

A word of caution: once mixed, this shot will curdle. Carefully layer ingredients on top of one another and consume immediately. To achieve a well-layered shot, the key is to slowly pour the ingredients over the back of a spoon.

To make simple syrup, simply (ha!) dissolve sugar in hot water and let cool. Use a 1:1 ratio for a thinner syrup; this can be quickly made sans stove top by shaking sugar and hot water in a bottle until the sugar has dissolved.

Note: Not a substitute for breakfast.

Fruity Pebbles shot

Yep, I'm referring to the Flintstones cereal here.

Fruity Pebble shotRemember Fruity Pebbles? That brightly-colored, imitation fruit-flavored cereal that stains milk an unnatural shade? If you were a fan of this cereal as a child (or still are!), then you'll love this shot! Appropriately dubbed the Fruity Pebble Shot, this drink tastes just like the popular Flintstones-themed cereal. An homage to the most important meal of the day, in a celebratory shot.

Fruity Pebble Shot

1 1/2 oz. Vodka
1/2 oz. Blue Curacao
1 dash Grenadine
1 part Milk

Combine all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake. Can be enjoyed as a shot or on the rocks.

(Alternate) Fruity Pebble Shot

1 part Blue Curacao
1 part Raspberry Schnapps
2 parts Milk

Combine all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake. Can be enjoyed as a shot or on the rocks.

A word of caution: I recommend consuming immediately as a shot as opposed to sipping it slowly as the milk may begin to curdle over time.

Note: Not a substitute for breakfast.

Love your lens and will have to try some of these. I became familiar with the pancake shot this past fall - the jameson, butterscotch schnapps chased with OJ version. Love them - yum!
