Tips To Follow After Your Breast Augmentation Surgery
Make sure you have a post-operative instruction list from your surgeon as you may not remember everything that you are told prior to surgery. You should wait approximately four weeks after surgery to purchase new bras. Have a hair appointment a few days after surgery to save you having to wash and style your own hair (which involves lifting your arms up and can be painful).
Take photographs of your new breasts at regular intervals after surgery to track their progress! Having photos of your before and after breasts is an absolute must! It is common to experience some bloating after breast augmentation surgery. Drink plenty of water and try some gentle movement to help shift the fluid.
You may experience some low mood for the weeks following your operation. This is normal and will subside. Talk to your doctor about the signs of infection, and be vigilant. If you see any signs of infection, it must be treated quickly, so examine yourself every day and do not delay on seeking medical help if you suspect an infection.
You can expect some itching: this is the nerve endings regenerating. Applying ice can help soothe this. You may also experience nausea and constipation. Natural remedies include ginger to ease nausea, and Butternut-Cascara to treat constipation.
Overly-sensitive nipples often result from breast implant surgery. Use moisturizer once any areola incisions have healed, and protect with soft cotton. Wear light, silky tops until the sensitivity dies down.
Be prepared for your menstrual cycle to occur irregularly for up to three months after your operation. Talk to your doctor about scar management. Scarring can sometimes be reduced with gentle massage and it is advisable not to tan any scars for a year.
Getting up from a seated position can be tricky soon after getting breast implants. Follow this advice: shuffle yourself to the end of the couch, put your feet at least shoulder width apart on the floor with your toes pointing outwards. Keep your back straight and stand up by straightening your knees. Most importantly: hold onto those breasts!
