Breast Cancer Awareness

Cancer in general can spread to most parts of the body, even the eye. People have even had there eyes removed due to cancer of the eyeball. It does happen.  When someone has breast cancer there is alway a chance that it can spread via the lymph to the eye. When i first started way back I met a patient that had her breast removed two or three years before I gave her an eye exam. After we completed the exam she was 20/20 in both eyes. When she came back the following year her left eye was 20/400 and 20/20 in the right eye.  She was referred to our Ophthalmology Dept for an extensive workup.   Unfortunately it was my time to be transfered overseas for another assignment. I was told later that somehow the cancerous cell spread to the eye.  No definitive diagnosis per se. The point here is that cancer can affect the eyes as well.
