Who can get breast cancer?

Any female. That's right, its true. Any female is at risk of getting breast cancer. What makes one person getting it over another? There are risk factors that can elevate your chance of getting breast cancer. However, even the healthiest person can get breast cancer.
What are some changes in your life that you can make that will help REDUCE your risk?
QUIT SMOKING- Smoking increases your chance of breast cancer and of course will lead to other diseases as well. It will also affect treatments for breast cancer. Quit smoking now!

GET EXERCISE- Exercise is good in many ways but it also helps keep your estrogen level down. Low estrogen means less breast cell growth which also means less chance of breast cancer. Also your risk for breast cancer increases when you are overweight after menopause.

EAT HEALTHY- Eating healthy can also help maintain your weight loss and over all health. Staying healthy means a healthy immune system to help fight off harmful things in your body.

MAMOGRAMS- Regularly getting mamograms will help catch breast cancer sooner rather than later. A mamogram is basically an exray to detect lumps or masses. Mamogram
BREASTFEEDING- There was a link found between breast feeding and cancer. Women who were breastfed when they were younger have a 25% less chance to get breast cancer in their life compared to women who were bottlefed.
Breastfeeding your children for any amount of time, but for a minimum of three months, can decrease your chance of getting breast cancer anywhere from 11%-25%. Check out more information on breastfeeding.
Risk factors you cant control
- Age
- As you get older your chnace of getting breast cancer increases. From birth to age 39 your chances of getting breast cancer are 1 in 229. Look how high it jumps from age 40 to 59. - Pregnancy
- Does having children before 30 really increase your chance of getting breast cancer? Yes. Women who have not had a full term pregnancy at all or didnt have a full term pregnancy until 30 or later have a higher risk of getting breast cancer. They believe that stopping your menstrual cycle for 9 months offers some sort of protection against breast cancer.

- Race
- Believe it or not race can affect your chance of getting breast cancer. More caucasion women are seen with breast cancer than other race. However, in cases of women under 40, African American women have the highest risk out of the other races.
