My Chronic Anxiety
All my life I had suffered from an ever-present, continuous anxiety. It was like my normal state and I hardly even noticed it. But then one day I just had to go to the doctor because I started having these intense headaches and he told me that my blood pressure levels were high (160/95).
I tried pills for a while but the uncomfortable side effects made me look for another solution. And I found that breathing techniques made me feel much calmer, even though the other conditions of my life hadn't changed.
And what is even better: my blood pressure naturally lowered and the headaches practically disappeared. All of this without any sort of negative secondary effects.

Learning To Breathe Properly
Sometimes when I felt anxious I remembered that supposedly taking deep breaths would calm you down. Well, I tried to do that. But the thing is, everytime I tried this I ended up feeling all dizzy. I was actually hyperventilating.
Now I know better. I learned that in order for these breathing exercises to be effective, they have to be practiced first when you are not in a stressful situation. You must first get the hang of them and then you can apply them whenever you need it.
And because of the relationship between anxiety and hypertension, I learned how to use deep breathing to lower blood pressure. It is incredible how something so simple can be so powerful.

Additional Deep Breathing Benefits
Not only has deep breathing helped me to control my blood pressure and reduce my overall anxiety, but it has given me some nice "extras" along the way.For instance, now that my stress levels are down, I am able to sleep much, much better and thus I have a feeling of increased energy during the day, which in turn helps me to be more productive at work.
Also, my moods are generally better and this has benefited my personal relationships substantially.
One thing that actually helped me enormously to learn the proper breathing process is this deep breathing method. Feel free to check it out and listen to the demo.
