Brian Eno

Ranked #7,844 in Music, #214,052 overall

Brian Eno started as a pop musician, but is also known as a speaker, artist and cultural theorist

Starting out with Roxy Music, Brian Eno has forged far beyond playing keyboards with an art-progressive rock band.  His seminal AMBIENT 1: MUSIC FOR AIRPORTS is recognized as the birth of ambient music.  These days he composes and records as he pleases and sits on the board of The Long Now Foundation.

Just a Sampling of Brian Eno's Music

If you've never listened to Brian Eno, there are a lot of albums to consider and catch up with. And that's just if you go with the stuff where he's a musician. He's also done a ton of musical production for other bands.

A amazing introduction to Brian Eno's music can be had over at the archive for Henry Rollin's radio show "Harmony in my Head." For the April 1st 2008 show, he played an entire evening of music by Eno. It's free and you can download it.

Here are some albums that myself and a lot of other Eno fans seems to really, really enjoy.

January 07003 | Bell Studies for The Clock of The Long Now

Brian Eno is a member of the board of directors for the Long Now Foundation. The goal of the Long Now group is to foster longer-term human thought. Their feeling is that we are not giving any thought to the long-term results of our actions and way of life, living ignorantly while destroying elements of our own future and the world that our children and grandchildren will inherit.
