Brian Harnois: One of the Original Ghost Hunters
Ranked #335 in Culture & Society, #8,172 overall
Why people love Brian Harnois
While it's true that Brian did his share of goofing up, he also was all too often the whipping boy of the rest of the crew.
While it may be little known, Brian helped establish Ghost Hunters. He was with the original crew. He always showed respect to Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, the "Stars" of the show. Even when Brian was being called on the carpet, which happened far too often, he never snapped back. NEVER.
Obvious from the beginning, Brian had some quirks. Apparently, not being completely honest with his boss was one of them. He could be a little odd at times, but people came to love him. The rest of the Crew on Ghost Hunters were relentless in dogging Brian. Hmmm, I wonder if that had something to do with his being less than honest? People who were brand new to the show were often seen and heard complaining about and mocking Brian. It seems to me that Brian was singled out as the outcast.
Those of us who have followed Ghost Hunters since the beginning, however, came to like Brian, quirks and all. He was a likeable fellow, who tried to be very helpful to everyone. We knew he had issues...so?
I have found in my outside research that a good many people are wondering about, and asking about Brian Harnois. Perhaps he figured more into the ratings of Ghost Hunter than the rest of the crew had anticipated.

What is Brian Harnois up to these days?
Brian is very much into "Star Wars" now, and if his My Space page is any indication, he is pretty happy.Brian is currently doing a show on blogtalk radio with Donna La Croix (also a former Ghost Hunter). If you didn't know Brian had a my space page, well here it is
Brian Hanois My Space Page
Here is a recap of his shows on blogtalk radio
I see it isn't updated often, and wonder if that is going to go bust as well.
Brian, although apparently persuing other career interests, will, I think, always be a part of the "paranormal investigation scene". It is a part of who he is.
Brian is raising a little family now, with the addition of his little daughter. His My Space page has not been updated very recently, and I hope that changes, because a good many of my readers want to know what is up with him.

(The woman in the picture of this segment is Brian's Fiance, Michelle (Not the woman he left TAPS for) In the polls that I have presented on my other Articles, I asked people what they thought about Brian Harnois. 80+ % of them thought he seemed like a great guy, despite his quirks, and 84% thought he should still be on either GH or GHI. That is a lot of people, my friends. It will be interesting to see how the new seasons of GH and GHI go without Brian, or Donna for that matter. Here is your chance to be heard! I am forwarding this poll, Sept 1, to Brian, so let him know what you think in the poll below.

Brian is thrilled to have his words posted on Star Wars
On a recent promo of GHI I know I saw Brian on it. Perhaps he is doing appearances on GHI again? We'll see!
Brian also has 2 new blogs, but he is most excited that he made it onto Starwars.com! You can see his comments HERE

- TAPS crew again mentioning Brian, but not in a very good light unfortunately.
Update Sept 2011
More about Brian Harnois
Donna La Croix, a much loved former member of TAPS and the Ghost Hunters, has reported in the past (on Ghost Divas in 2009) that she has suspected something was amiss in some of the episodes. She would not go into detail, but it further confirmed suspicions that there had been some staging done on the show. She also said that she was very angry about how Brian, and Andy Andrews were treated both on the show and in contract negotiations.
TAPS has a real problem keeping their crew members, as evidenced in the every changing parade of new "investigators" on the show. The producers, as well as Jason and Grant may think that people have forgotten about Brian (and Donna), but that is not the case.

- i dont watch goat hunters(i meant it as i wrote it goat hunter) anymore it drove me crazy all these new people who didnt really bring anything to the show but inexpeirence inwinners of CONtests to be a new goat hunters first the twin demon experts left should have known something was up then but i continued to watch the show seemed to be for real ,i didnt really care for brian at first he was like a fungus (he grew on me)after awhile i grew to respect his dedication for trying to find out the truth and humor ,i will agree he did have some quirks but i still was rather fond of him ,i never agreed with grant and jay to kick him off the show then donna went on like a fake psychic really annoying at times then you got andy i could not stand the little jerk he made it seem he was an expert on everything and that he was the leader and not the one who was appointed who seemed like the was letting the little jerk andy be the boss,.when the new show first came on brian seemed to be eager at first its only when he grew more silent and distant it was obvious that something was wrong and then the rumors of him and donna about the ghost convention where they have to pay back people who registered to go and the event went bust also jay and grant didnt show up for it..the other rumor was about jay saying he was going after brian to make him pay i guess this was what jay meant revenge its sad really

- I disliked Brian from the first episode I saw him in (Race Rock) but I agree that he was treated as a whipping boy. I lost a lot of respect for Jason when I saw how he treats his staff.

- I do not at all miss Brian. He lied, on the show, many times. How can you trust someone's investigations, especially on a show that already has so many skeptics, when he's a proven liar. There is no way GH could have kept him. Think about it. Who would trust anything he found on the show? He dug his own GH grave, and the reason he was treated the way he was brought on by his own actions. TAPS does NOT have a problem keeping "cast" members. The cast has been very steady for the last several years. The few changes that have been made have been very good ones (except for putting Kris on GHI, which was not her choice or the choice of TAPS, that was done by the producers). Amy Bruni is not only a good investigator, but very watchable and likeable, not to mention gorgeous. I like Adam. He's new and has work to do, but he's good. Steve and Tango work very well together. I'm not a big fan of Britt, but he's ok. For the most part, the current lineup is great. I hope they do not bring Brian back, ever. He lost all of his credibility, and was given multiple chances. I do not wish bad things for him. I hope he is successful in whatever he does, as long as it's not on GH.

- I always felt Brian was the butt of everything that happened on Ghost Hunters. Although he may have had his own genuine issues, they seemed to make sure they incorporated Brian in the show just enough to be known as a screw-up employee, while omitting his good points.
Everyone made a point to mention Brian at given points in the show, even if if was merely to mention him in some negative light. Brian was clearly the *Whipping Boy* on the show and it was very disappointing to see Jason & Grant allow him to be treated this way. If they had an issue with him then handle it the way any professional employer would and should handle it. but don't broadcast a person's alleged issues and joke about it as if they simply don't matter. That kind of relationship only serves to further degrade any professionalism they should have in their organization. Jason & Grant clearly dropped the ball in properly dealing with any issues they may have had with Brian Harnois.
I will add that I definitely noticed Steve Gonsalves getting his own "digs" into Brian on numerous occasions, many of which were completely unwarranted. It was as if some of the alleged "issues" were scripted in some fashion and merely for the benefit of the show, which was very wrong if this was the case.
I personally liked Brian's personality on Ghost Hunters and felt he brought something rather genuine to the show, and I was surprised and very disappointed when he didn't return after a given point.
I wish they would bring Brian back to Ghost Hunters, as I personally feel most, if not all the investigators at the time simply did not give Brian a fair deal - especially Steve Gonslaves, who I think went out of his way to provide extra bad-mouthing sessions against Brian about what was sometimes petty issues. Although I liked Steve originally, his constant bashing of Brian changed my mind as to his overall demeanor. Steve's inability to fly, pansy-like fear of all spiders, large and small, made him the one Ghost Hunters investigator I would have gotten rid of WAY before even considering Brian.
