Bridal Wedding Gowns

There are many different types of bridal gowns today, from the traditional white wedding gown to the more modern and contemporary bridal wedding gown.

Over the years, brides have continued to wear Bridal Gowns in a manner that best suits their social status-always in the peak of fashion, with the most expensive, boldest materials that money can buy. Where as, in times gone by, the poorest of brides would only be able to wear their best church dress on their wedding day, this was all they could afford.

Western bridal wedding dresses are usually white, though "wedding white" includes creamy shades such as eggshell, ecru and ivory. Today, there are bridal wedding gowns available in all price ranges, and include a rainbow of colors and a variety of lengths, which are now considered acceptable.

Women can now purchase already-made bridal wedding gowns, wear a family heirloom handed down from mother to daughter, or they may choose to have a dressmaker create one for them. Today many bridal shops have "off the rack" bridal wedding gowns, where a bride can select a silhouette that best suits her bodyshape, or she can choose to have a gown customised just for her.

Many bridal wedding gowns in China, India and Vietnam (in the traditional form of the Ao dai) are colored red, the traditional color of good luck and auspiciousness. Nowadays, many women choose not to wear red but to wear other colors. In modern Chinese weddings, the bride usually chooses the white Western Bridal Gown or changes from a white gown to a red gown later in the day and sometimes a gold-colored gown later on.
