Bride of Frankenstein Costume

A Bride of Frankenstein Costume Is Perfect For Old School Monster Movie Fans

A Bride of Frankenstein costume is the perfect Halloween look for the classic horror movie fan like me. Many movie critics have called Bride of Frankenstein (1935) the best horror movie of the 20th century. 2010 marks the Bride's 75th anniversary making it an excellent year to wear a Bride of Frankenstein costume.

Bride of Frankenstein costumes are popular and widely available but there are many inferior ones being offered for sale these days. I'll show you some premium Bride costumes that are officially licensed by Universal Studios as well as the make up you'll need to complete the look.

You'll also see some monster costumes and accessories suitable for your date. If you're tired of the usual vampires and zombies but you'd still like to stick to the classic monster theme this Halloween,a Bride of Frankenstein costume will make you the Belle of the Scary Ball.

Bride of Frankenstein Trailer 1935

What Will She Look Like?

Bride of Frankenstein is the sequel to the 1931 blockbuster Frankenstein starring Boris Karloff as the monster. Karloff reprises his role as the Monster in the sequel. Elsa Lanchester plays the Bride. Lanchester also plays author Mary Shelley in the movie's prologue.

Clive Owen again plays Dr. Frankenstein and James Whale directs. Universal make up artist Jack Pierce created the look of most of the Universal Monsters.

The Bride only appears for a few minutes in the film but she makes quite an impression. She manages to look wide eyed, innocent, frightened and confused all at the same time as she weaves a spell over her intended monster mate. I won't give away too much about the plot of the movie in case you haven't seen it yet but let's just say that Frankenstein's monster is smitten with his intended Bride but the feeling is not mutual.

Although you don't get to see the Bride's final reveal in the trailer you get a sense of the suspense that the Studio built in the weeks and months before the film was released.

About Bride Of Frankenstein

Click Here To Buy Bride Of Frankenstein poster from AllPosters.comBride of Frankenstein created quite a sensation when it was released in 1935. Frankenstein had been a box office smash four years earlier and made a major star of Boris Karloff. The sequel was originally called Return of Frankenstein and several scripts were written and scrapped.

Eventually writer John L. Balderston wrote a script inspired by Mary Shelley's novel. An important part of the novel was Frankenstein's creature becoming self aware and demanding a mate. This became the theme for the second installment of the Frankenstein movie series. Of course if the monster were to have a mate of his own kind she would have to be created for him.

Dr. Frankenstein had sworn off creating new monsters but his demented mentor,Dr. Pretorius (played by Ernest Thesiger) was more than willing to create a monster bride for Frankenstein's creation. Thus,Bride of Frankenstein was born.
