Who is Bright Eyes

Conor Oberst, has been recording since the age of 13. In addition to Oberst, Bright Eyes now includes multi-instrumentalist/producer Mike Mogis, horn player and keyboardist Nate Walcott and a rotating lineup of collaborators drawn primarily from the indie music scene in Omaha, where Oberst grew up.
Since the release of Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground, the fourth full-length album under the Bright Eyes moniker, there have been some unexpected developments.

The band appeared on "The Late Show with David Letterman," "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn," and were a prominent addition to the MTV2-televised 2003 Shortlist Awards. In October of 2004 Oberst joined Bruce Springsteen and R.E.M. on a politically-motivated arena tour in advance of the presidential election.

The prolific young musician was hurled from his indie rock enclave on to a larger stage, leading to greater commercial success. Conor was hailed by fans as the finest songwriter of his generation. 

Since Lifted, Oberst has released an almost constant stream of new material on collaborative EPs, tribute albums, and charity records. He ventured into the studio with Nebraska folk-pop outfit Tilly and the Wall, co-producing their debut album Wild Like Children and released it on his newly established record label, Team Love.

Jan. 25, 2005 saw the release of two albums. I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning is a country-tinged mélange of Conor's finest acoustic songs, featuring guest vocal appearances from Emmylou Harris and Jim James of My Morning Jacket. >>(read more)
