Brighton is growing by leaps and bounds! Originally a very small farming community, the town evolved in to a major sugar beet growing and processing hub for the country. Today, the city is modern and vibrant but still in touch with its rural roots.

Living Well In Brighton 

Brighton was incorporated as a city in 1880 after being founded as a stage stop, known as Hughes Station on the main road between Denver and Cheyenne, Wyoming. Later, the community became an important stop on the railroad and a farming and commercial center. The first school in Brighton was created in 1884.

Today, one of Brighton's most popular attractions is the Murray Corn Maze. This maze, with a different complex design each year, has four miles of twisting trails across 15 acres of tall corn. At Barr Lake State Park where visitors can enjoy wildlife viewing (we have nesting Bald Eagles!), jogging, horseback-riding, biking, and fishing. The park is also home to the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory, with over 300 different species.
