Books for babies

Get your child interested in books from the start

There are so many fabulous books available now for babies that the choice can be overwhelming.
I'll list a few of my favourites - these have been tried and tested on my family with great success.
At this age the best books to go for are those with bright bold contrasting colours, black & white images also work really well.
Cloth books are brilliant too. Babies love to explore the different textures of material, and of course they are (mostly) washable in case of any accidents!

There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly (Classic Books)

This is a real classic, that babies and young children will love. Pat Adams illustrations really add to the well-known nursery rhyme, and the die-cut holes add even more entertainment. Babies will be fascinated with the bright colours and the clarity of the illustrations.

Mine are grown now, but when they were adolescents they really enjoyed TinTin books, which are in comic form but present some true history/geography in their stories. They liked to read about anything, though, because I started out reading to them when they were newborns. I was very blessed to raise two wonderful readers. You have some really good suggestions here!
