Britcoms - The Best Of British
British Comedies, also called Britcoms are rapidly becoming classics around the world and it is the integrity of such shows as "As Time Goes By" that have launched Brtitish shows to the top of every one's list of things to buy. Britcoms are great for the most part and have such an enormous difference in sensibility than American sitcoms. The Britcoms are definitely different from the US brand of comedy.
It is difficult to explain why I like these shows especially if you have never seen them for yourself. Partly nostalgia as I grew up in England during the late 70's and 80's, and they have a comfortable warm feeling, and they are very funny too.
For those seeking to become acquainted with the British comedy genre, this is a great place to start.

Fawlty Towers
one of the best-known, and most-loved, British comedy's of the 70s.
Download And Watch Fawlty Towers Episodes Online Always near or at the top of any list of classic Britcoms. It starred John Cleese as bad tempered Torquay hotel owner Basil Fawlty, and Prunella Scales as his domineering wife Sybil, his "little nest of vipers". Connie Booth played Polly the dependable maid and general assistant, and last but certainly not least, little Manuel superbly played by Andrew Sachs, the tyrannized waiter from Barcelona, dogsbody and subject of frequent physical attacks by the demented Basil! Terry the Chef, played by Brian Hall, was employed for the second series.
The other regular guests were the slightly senile Major Gowen (retired), and the hard of hearing old dears Miss Tibbs & Miss Gatsby.
Only running for two series of six episodes (Series One - 1975, Series Two - 1979) but every one was a classics in its own right.

in the traditional fashion.
