Having lived in the UK for some months, I found myself saying seemingly innocent things that really had me in trouble, and alternatively, had me stifling laughter when I heard certain phrases that are everyday expressions over there.
British readers should breeze through this quiz - but if you are from North America, how well do you know your British slang? Here are ten words and phrases to test your knowledge of colloquial speech, used frequently by our cousins across "the pond".
So, go ahead and find out whether you are "the bee's knees", or whether you will get "brassed off" after having completed this "crackin'" quiz!

No sane American should ever dream of visiting the UK without arming themselves with a good dictionary of British slang.
Keep yourself out of trouble by not talking about your "bangs" in mixed company, and try to stifle the giggles when a Brit exclaims "Blow me!"
Jonathan Bernstein's collection of Cockney rhyming slang, insults culled from British television shows of yore, and regional and "high British" favorites provides hours of educational, enlightening and even life saving hilarity.

- Only if you're "off your trolley" or "plastered" can you expect to score a perfect 10 on this quiz if you're not be a brit. I guess however if you're "really jammy" and have "a lotta bottle" this quiz could perhaps be quite "a doddle". My score however was "total pants"! Anyway I'm feeling rather "parky" right now and less than "dishy", so I think I'll be "going off for a gander" elsewhere... but first I need to visit the "khazi"! :)

- Wow, 8 of 10--better than I expected. But I do confess to guessing on quite a few. That was fun.

- I'm gutted that I didn't get a higher score! Watch a lot of British telly, so I hoped I knew at least half of this, but to be true to myself, I had to guess everything.

- Seriously chuffed, a great lens. How about some Cockney Rhyming slang. I just go and have a cup of Rosie and Pears then I shall go up the apples and pears.
Fantastic. I lived in Godalming and went to the Grammar School on Tuesley Lane
