at least British people know to say "funnier" as opposed to "more funny"

Sorry mate you are wrong...everyone knows that British humour is way funnier cleverer and classier than anything the yanks could produce...all they can do is cheese!

British are more funny than Americans? You guys aren't even more funny than Canadians. Jervais is your one exception. But he's not that great at standup. Carlin, Pryor and Cosby anyone?

in response to the question about changing the name of Spooks to MI-5, in the US, calling someone a "spook" is an extremely racist way of saying someone is black.

I loved Hex and was sad that it was only optioned for two seasons. Skins, Jekyll, Hotel Babylon, and Mistresses are also good. Ricky Gervais' Extras is still one of the funniest shows I have ever seen.

Hi, Nice lens, thanks for sharing. I've heard great things about MI-5. My favorite British show is Little Britain. I've seen it on DVD and it's so darn funny.

"MI-5 is called Spooks in the UK. I don't know why the title change was needed since I don't think MI-5 really enlightens US viewers all that much."

Re: your comment above: I think it's pretty obvious why there was a name change. The word "spooks" has a racially negative connotation in the U.S. For that reason alone, it would never be allowed here as the title of a tv show.

There are soooo many good ones. My latest faves: Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes, Skins, Shameless, Peep Show, Nighty Night, The Office, Extras, Jekyll, Cold Feet, Life Begins, Clattiford, The Worst Week of My Life, Worst Xmas, etc. I'm leaving too many out. You're so right, all we get in the U.S. are cooking and nanny shows and the occasional worn out rerun of Fawlty Towers or if we're lucky a five years old censored version of Shameless tucked away on Sundance Channel. And what the hell, ABC's new version of Life on Mars is just a dumbed down, cleaned up carbon copy of the brilliant UK original. I guess the network suits don't think we can handle something that good. Thanks for recommending Spooks and the new Dr. Who. I'll check them out.
