Britney Spears has started her tour to promote the "Circus" Album

Britneyalso revealed winning three awards for the promo for her single 'Piece of Me' at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) earlier this year has inspired her to experiment in the genre further.

In the interview with New York radio station Z-100, Britney said: "'Piece of Me' is a cool video but I think by far I've done videos that are way better. But it was really inspiring to win because now I can go there and do something crazy."

The mother-of-two also gave some insight into the meaning of her new single 'Womanizer', adding: "It's a really cool song. It's basically saying, 'We know what you're up to.' It's about guys cheating on girls. It's a girl anthem. That's why I like it."

However, lawyer Eric Ervin, who worked with Spears as a teenager, has reported that the "virgin" image Spears portrayed was, in his words, a "PR blitz." In fact, it has been widely reported that Britney Spears lost her virginity at age 14 to boyfriend Reg Jones.

Also, it seems that Britney Spears kept secret her family's tragic history.

It seems that Spears' paternal grandmother, Emma Jean Spears, committed suicide at age 31, in June 1966. Britney's grandmother, who suffered from depression, shot herself in the chest with a shotgun at the grave of her infant son, who had died eight years' earlier, just three days after being born.

A local newspaper article reported at the time: "The shotgun had been pressed against the woman's chest and she apparently pulled the trigger with a toe of the right foot from which a shoe had been removed." The newspaper reported that Emma Jean had attempted suicide three times before.

Emma Jean Spears left behind four other children, including Britney's father, Jamie Spears, then an eighth grader. Two of Jamie Spears' brothers ended up with criminal records and homeless.

Justin Timberlake and Britneywere close friends from their early days' as mouseketeers.

Britney Jean Spears was born in rural Louisiana (Kentwood) on December 2, 1981, to Jamie and Lynne Spears.

As a child, Britney attended dance classes, and she was great at gymnastics, winning many competitions and the like. But, most of all, Britney loved to sing. At age 8, Britney tried out for "MMC" (1989), but was turned down due to her young age. This directed her to an off-Broadway show, "Ruthless", for a 2-year run as the title character. At age 11, she again tried for "MMC" (1989) and this time made it as a mouseketeer along side many stars of today (Justin Timberlake and J.C. Chasez of N*Sync and Ryan Gosling).

Her big break came when she was signed as a Jive Recording Artist in the late 90s. With the release of her debut album, "...Baby One More Time" in early 1999, Britney became an international success, selling 13 million copies of "Baby" and 9 million (as of July 2001) of her sophomore album, "Oops!...I Did It Again," released in May of 2000.

Britney Spearswas only 17 when she reached #1 on the U.S. pop music charts with her 1999 debut album ..."Baby One More Time". Her catchy tunes and physique made Spears one of America's biggest pop stars, and she became a near-constant presence on MTV, radio broadcasts and magazine covers around the world. Spears's second album, "Oops!...I Did It Again", was released in May of 2000 and went gold in its first week.

In 2003 she released "In the Zone", but by then her personal life got more press than her singing career. On 3 January 2004 she married childhood friend Jason Alexander (not the Jason Alexander of Seinfeld), then had the marriage annulled the same day. Later in the year she married Kevin Federline, a professional dancer whose claim to fame was fathering two children with Moesha star Shar Jackson. Spears and Federline had two sons, Sean (b. 14 September 2005) and Jayden (b. 12 September 2006), but Spears filed for divorce in November of 2006 (their divorce became final on 30 July 2007). During 2007 Spears was in the gossip columns on a weekly basis and made headlines by shaving her head, entering rehab and, after repeated missteps with the courts, losing custody of her children to Federline. With very little publicity, she released "Blackout", her fifth studio album, in November 2007.

Britney received a lot of criticism on one of her recent videos, as she engaged in some pole dancing. Others simply criticised her for turning up as a brunette! Unfortunately, this came out at the same time as she was experiencing some personal problems

Well, Britneyhas had her problems. However, considering some of the issues she experienced as a child, should this be surprising?

She is attractive and talented, and I hope that she finds herself and finds happiness
