Avenue Q

Avenue Q is the story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college grad who comes to New York City with big dreams and a tiny bank account. He soon discovers that the only neighborhood in his price range is Avenue Q; still, the neighbors seem nice. There's Brian the out-of-work comedian and his therapist fiancée Christmas Eve; Nicky the good-hearted slacker and his roommate Rod--a Republican investment banker who seems to have some sort of secret; an Internet addict called Trekkie Monster; and a very cute kindergarten teaching assistant named Kate. And would you believe the building's superintendent is Gary Coleman?!? (Yes, that Gary Coleman.) Together, Princeton and his newfound friends struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in life.

Avenue Q debuted at the Vineyard Theatre off-Broadway and was a quick hit with both critics and theatergoing urbanites, all of which took to the grown-up life lessons that the show has to offer. Audiences continued to grow when the little-show-that-could moved uptown, opening at Broadway's Golden Theatre in the summer of 2003 to even more widespread rave reviews. Tony voters agreed with the critics and awarded Avenue Q as the Best Musical of the season as well as choosing to honor its young writers trophies for Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical.

The Pirate Queen is based on the real-life story of the legendary Irish pirate chieftain, Grace "Grania" O'Malley, who was a pirate, chieftain, lover and mother in 16th century Ireland. O'Malley was one of the last Irish clan leaders to resist the English conquest of Gaelic Ireland.

The appearances led to a theatrical show, which premiered at the legendary performance space La Mama, ETC and finally to off-Broadway's Astor Place Theatre in 1991.
