What is Glass art

What is glass art? It is the art of creating stained glass, lampworking - using a torch flame to mold and shape the glass being used, glass casting, beadmaking glass fusing, and the making of glass shapes through glass blowing. There is a great deal of variety and style that exists in the realm of art work.

Mosaic Art!

Where glass art can be broken glass, melted glass and glass that has been molded, Mosaic Art takes small pieces of glass or colored stone and places it in a specific pattern. It may require more of an artist touch, in respect to some want to make designs out of it (like on the side of a bank). It can also be used to a random design.

Blowing glass!

If you want it, the opportunity is there for you. You can become an artist in the art of glass blowing. In this area, you can blow glass into different shapes and sizes. You can make vases, dishes, glasses, art and more.

With glass blowing, there are three stages that are to be down for this type of art work.

First: Called the furnace, is where there is a "crucible" of molten glass.

Second: Called the Glory Hole, is where the pieces are reheated in between molding and shaping of your item

Third: Called the Lehr, is the final step and where the glass is cooled slowly. How slow you ask, hours to days, all depending on the size and type of glass. Now, the cooling is in done in chambers, allowing for the glass to cool slowly. If it cools to quickly it will crack and the item is destroyed. Consequently, you have to start over again.

(This is not a comprehensive, detailed set of instructions for how to blow glass, it's simply an over view.
