coming out of west london

as people tired of 2 step certain producers moved towards new areas of music that had been bubbling under and around for some time

the result was an infusion of funk, soul, hiphop and jazz to combine with the atmospheric and intelligent beats of both elements of the old uk garage camp and the more adult drum'n'bass camp

broken beat came about utilising all of these elements and sources to make something fresh and new

it's adult it's laidback but so danceable

leaders in the area are the everpresent 'bugz in the attic' - a collective

domu who writes under a whole horde of different names and in combination with others
