Brother PED-Basic Software for Downloading Embroidery Designs
The Brother PED-Basic Software and card writer/reader allows you to download free or low-cost embroidery designs from the internet and write them to original Brother memory cards for your Brother home embroidery machine.
If you want to expand your creative projects beyond the built-in designs, this easy-to-use software and card reader/writer will open up a vast world of new embroidery designs for your sewing enjoyment.
Brother Embroidery Machine With USB Port?
Do You Need PED Basic?
If your Brother Embroidery machine has a USB port that takes a thumb drive, you don't need this software. You can import saved and downloaded designs from a USB memory stick.
If your machine has the type of USB port that connects to your computer, you can import saved and downloaded designs from your computer. You don't really need this software. But it might be handy to have because you can store more designs on the memory card than you can save in the embroidery machine's memory. You need software and a writer to write the cards. You can't write cards from the embroidery machine.
Brother PED-Basic® Software Features

For Use With All Brother Home Embroidery Machines (that use a memory card)
Note: If your Brother Embroidery machine has a USB port, you don't need this software. You can transfer saved designs from your computer or USB memory stick. But if it's the USB port that connects to a computer and not a thumb drive, some people still prefer to write embroidery cards to store their designs. If you're like this, you'll still need software to write the cards.
Note: This software cannot be used to create embroidery data or designs. It can't be used to put letters together to form words. For that you need more advanced embroidery software.
Compatible with IBM-PC compatible computers with a USB port and CD-ROM drive. Requires Windows 98 operating system or later. Now compatible through Windows 7. Be sure to check for compatibility with your own computer.
Note: Not compatible with Macintosh. You must use a solution that runs Windows on a Macintosh such as Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion, or BootCamp to use PED-Basic with a Macintosh.
Four Easy Steps

- Using your computer and the PED-Basic software, download PES embroidery data from any embroidery design site or pre-packaged design pack.
- Preview and/or edit the imported embroidery data on your computer screen.
- Write the PES data to an original Brother embroidery card.
- Simply insert the card into a compatible Brother, Babylock, Simplicity or Bernina Deco embroidery machine and press the Start button to sew beautiful embroidery.
What do you want to do with embroidery design software?

Brother PED-Basic Customer Reviews
Here are a few reviews from owners of the Brother PED-Basic Software.
A Must-Have for Embroiderers
This is probably one of the best products I have ever bought. For those who do not know much about computers, it is so easy and the instructions are very simple. There is no reason to have to spend $39.99-$75.00 for embroidery cards when you may not even use all of the patterns. This product allows you to go to innumerable websites and download designs, most of them free, onto the memory card and simply slip it in your machine and you are set to go. I wish that I had bought this before I spent hundreds of dollars on memory cards! ~Patricia L. Bour (Bowling Green, KY)
Better than I thought it would be!
I am amazed at how much this allows me to download! I thought I would only be able to download designs from the Brother website, but I was WRONG! You can get designs from almost any embroidery site with this!!! I love it! I've done so much with it, that it's basically paid for itself! I definitely suggest the investment! ~J. Gonzalez "Would Be Seamstress" (Las Vegas, NV)
Great Product for embroidery designs
I am new to embroidering and I love this product. It allows me to download designs and transfer them to an embroidery card for use in my machine. I recommend copying your designs to a CD or memory stick though. The card doesn't hold a lot of data. It is a great product for beginners. ~Kristin Rivera (Elyria, OH)
What Fun, Creative Projects Do You Do?
I'd love to hear about your embroidery design projects and any good sites for downloading free designs.

- Hi Kim, I don't know anything about the Inovi 750. I have the Brother SE400. But if you're using PED-Basic to write the cards, you can put more than one design on the card. You click the browse button and navigate to the folder where your embroidery designs are. This can be a folder on your hard drive or on the CD. Then in the box on the left -- the "Available Patterns List" you'll see the designs you can copy. Click the pattern you want to write to the card. Then Click the arrow button in the center of the boxes to move the design to the "Selected patterns list." Do this for all the designs you want to write to the card.
If you already have designs on the card that you want to save, you must select the card first and move those designs to the "Selected patterns list."
Be sure to keep checking the "Card capacity indicator" because the card may not hold all the designs you want, especially if you have a lot of them on CD.
You can also select multiple designs by, holding down the Ctrl key or Shift key while clicking the designs. Or you can just drag the designs from the left box to the right box.
All the designs in the right box will get written to the card.
Hope this helps. It's a bit hard to write it clearly.

- Thanks for the lens. I have been online researching to see if I can do applique with this. A friend of mine has PE Design and can do applique, but I'm not sure if this can. She said she has .emb files not .pes files... *blessed*

- No, PED-Basic won't do qpplique. Its editing functions are very limited. What it's good for is to write embroidery designs (including appliques) onto embroidery cards to import into embroidery machines that don't have USB ports.
To do applique you would either have to buy or download a free applique design or create one yourself with embroidery editing software such as PE Design or Embird,
Thanks for the blessing and blessings to you too,
Kamala
