Brother SE400 Embroidery and Sewing Machine With USB Computer Connectivity
What I love about the Brother SE400 is how intuitive the computerized features are. The interactive LCD touch-screen is so easy to operate and understand. And it has a top-loading drop-in bobbin with a threading system that is second to none. Sewing is so much faster and more enjoyable when you don't have to fuss with the machine. The ability to embroider will inspire many new creative projects.
The Brother SE400 is basically the same as the very popular SE-350. But the SE-400 is upgraded with a USB port and cable that connects to your computer for importing embroidery designs. This means that you can download and stitch a vast number of free and low-cost embroidery patterns from the Internet directly from your computer. You don't need to buy expensive software and card reader/writer such as the Brother PED-Basic Software to write the patterns on a memory card first.
The possibilities are endless and limited only by your creative imagination. You really can't go wrong with the Brother SE400 in value for your money. And it would ruin the surprise, but if you get it before Christmas, think of all the cool Christmas gifts and decorations she could make with it now.
“My friends and family love the designs I have made on clothing, pillows, shams, aprons, etc.”
Imagine What You Could Create With A Brother SE400!
Turn inexpensive items for the home such as pillows, towels, place mats into exquisite designer fashions by adding your own embellishments.- Embroider and personalize very cute little bibs and outfits for your favorite baby
- Save money by embroidering initials on school uniforms yourself
- Sew a satin stole and embellish it with embroidery for your daughter's prom
Sew your own fashions and add designer details- Create a special wedding gift by personalizing store-bought sheets, pillowcases, towels with monograming.
- Applique the corners of your scrapbooks for an antique look.
And all this is in addition to the normal sewing you can do - mending, altering, hemming, and creating new outfits.
The possibilities are endless and limited only by your creative imagination. You really can't go wrong with the Brother SE400 Embroidery and Sewing Machine.
Brother SE400 Features
Discover the Fun of Embellishing With Embroidery
- As a sewing machine, the SE400 has 67 built-in sewing stitches, 98 stitch functions, and 10 styles of one-step automatic buttonholes -- all the stitches you'd need for your creative sewing projects from constructing home decorations, fashionable clothes, and quilting to just basic altering and mending.
- Then the embroidery unit has 70 built-in embroidery designs, five monogramming fonts, 120 frame pattern combinations. Imagine the fun of adding your own style to your projects and personalizing gifts with the added touch of embroidery embellishment.
And when you get tired of the built-in patterns or just want to try something different, you can choose from many thousands of embroidery designs (in .pes or .dst format) on the Internet. The Brother SE400 has a USB port and cable that attaches to your computer. You can easily download embroidery patterns directly from your computer. You don't have to buy expensive software and a card reader/writer just to transfer new designs.- It's fun, easy and very intuitive! The instruction manual, help system and LCD thouch screen make learning a snap. Even if you are a complete beginner, you'll be up to speed and personalizing your very own creative visions in no time at all.
- The start / stop button allows you to sew without the foot petal. If you have lower back problems (or even if you don't), you may find sewing a lot more comfortable with the button instead of the foot petal. Also, you may find the speed easier to control using the button.
The large, super-bright, backlit LCD touch screen makes it easy to select and edit embroidery patterns with a simple touch. No more fussing with stitch width/length dials. The on-screen guide reminds you how to do any operation at a glance.- Tthe Brother SE400 is compact and light. It's easy to carry around -- even to classes and on trips -- and put away after each use if you don't have the space to leave it out.
- Advanced Needle Threader saves wear and tear on eyes and fingers.
- Quick-SetTM Drop-in Bobbin: Drop in a full bobbin, pull the thread through the slot and start sewing. No more having to pull the bobbin thread up or lose it in a tangled mess.
The Brother SE400 comes with nearly everything you need to begin sewing the moment the machine is out of the box. All you need is some fabric, thread, and stabilizer to get started on your projects. The SE400 comes with an embroidery foot and seven sewing feet: zipper, buttonhole and button fitting, over-casting, zigzag, blind hem, and monogramming. Other accessories are: 4-inch x 4-inch embroidery hoop, twin needle, needle set, 4 bobbins including clips, scissors, seam ripper, eyelet punch, spool net, spool pin, 3 spool caps, regular screwdriver, disc-shaped screwdriver, touch pen, cleaning brush, dust cover, accessory bag, foot controller, manuals and instructional CD. - I have this machine and LOVE it but was wondering if anyone can answer a question about it. I would like to know if I am able to purchase different stitches for this machine. I know I can purchase/download embroidery designs, but what about stitches? I would like something different than what this machine offers. Anyone?

- Hi Sarah,
I've never heard any way to add sewing stitches. Thinking of the control panel and functions, I can't even think how it would work. But I could be wrong and would be very happy to be corrected. Could you possible fake it with embroidery designs? Like in-the-hoop projects that sew felties and things together with embroidery stitches.

- You could fake it with the embroidery stitches but I think it would take WAY too long! I just wish Brother would come out with a card that you can plug in and have more stitches to choose from. There are TONS of fancy stitches out there but they are for other machines. :(

- My mother taught me to sew on her old Singer machine, and she would have loved one of these machines for all of her quilt work and other sewing projects.

- Same with me. Then I bought my own Singer when I was in high school. Just threw it out a couple of years ago. They don't make them like that anymore -- at least not at a price I can afford. But I love my Brother SE400.

- You know I noticed on that fashion/sewing show on TV, can't remember the title, that all the designers had Brother sewing machines in their work room.

- Project Runway. Brother is the exclusive supplier of machines for the show and has several models with the Project Runway logo and a cute rolling tote bag.

- Not yet. I am researching much simpler, more basic machines for the routine mending, hemming, and occasional sewing I would like to do. I can see how wonderful this machine would be for anyone interested in more creative crafts and projects. Nicely done. I particularly appreciated the Amazon review module. Blessed.

- Yes, if you're not into machine embroidery, you can get what you need in a much less expensive regular sewing machine. Thanks for blessing my lenses.
Blessings, Kamala
