Ideas For A Sweet Pink & Chocolate Wedding Palette

Sweet pink and creamy chocolate brown have been the wedding color scheme du jour for the past few years. And why not? The colors look dreamy together and their popularity means that you will be able to easily work the color scheme into every aspect of the wedding from the invitations to the dresses to the wedding favors. In addition to a light sweet pink, chocolate brown can also be paired with raspberry or hot pink tones. Various darker pink colors have become increasingly more popular over the past year or so.

In this lens, I will suggest where and when to execute your pink and brown color scheme. In addition, I will give you my favorite resources for finding the hottest and most popular wedding items. If you've decided to go with pink and brown, I hope you find this lens both informative and inspirational.

Pink & Brown Wedding Inspiration Board

Chocolate Brown & Pink Wedding Inspiration Board
One of the first things I like to do when planning a wedding around a specific color scheme is to go online and find inspiration boards that align with the vision of the bride that I am assisting. Many websites such as The Knot and My Bridal Story have photos of real weddings. I suggest going through these photos and printing out any that you love. That way when you meet with your wedding planner, you can give him or her a clear picture of your vision. If you are acting as your own wedding planner, you can collect these photos to create your own inspiration board. I have found that brides sometimes get swept up by the tide of beautiful wedding things and lose focus regarding their specific wedding vision. A board is a great way to make sure that all of the items you choose will coordinate and look great on your big day.

When creating an inspiration board, I suggest that brides try to stick to 8 - 16 photos that they love....try to include photos of things like the reception, flowers, centerpieces, dresses and other wedding reception accessories. I found the above pink and brown inspiration board at Here Comes The Blog. They have many inspiration boards so if you are looking for a color scheme (other than pink and brown), give them a visit too.

Pink Wedding & Brown Bridesmaid Dresses

Pink Brown Wedding Dresses
Pink Brown Wedding Dresses by WeddingBlogger

Bringing your chocolate and pink wedding color scheme into the bridesmaid's dresses is a must. In the above photo, I've shown some of my favorite dresses in this color palette. The great thing about plain brown bridesmaid dresses is that you can easily add a light pink, raspberry or hot pink sash if you'd like. I guess my biggest tip when it comes to choosing the bridemaid dresses is to get swatches. Material textures and color hues (both pink and brown) vary significantly from dress maker to dress maker so it is imperative that you get a swatch to make sure that you are buying something that will satisfy your wedding needs.

In the above photo, I've also picked a couple of pale pink wedding dresses that I absolutely love. If you are having a pink and brown color scheme, it affords the perfect opportunity for a bride to stray a bit from a traditional white wedding gown to a pink gown. I know that not all brides are fond of pink gowns, but if you fancy a pink dress, check out the two in the photo montage. Finally, I found a couple cute flower girl dresses that have tinges of brown throughout the design. You can choose a matching pink or brown flower girl basket. Obviously, they would work well within the confines of this color palette.

Pink Wedding Flowers

One of the distinct advantages of a chocolate and pink color scheme (versus chocolate and Tiffany or aqua blue) is that you can easily find pink flowers that look stunning in both the bridal bouquets and reception centerpieces. In the photograph above, I've put together some of my favorite pink floral bouquets. There are so many great options so if you are on a budget, I suggest using a local florist and asking them what flowers will be in season during your nuptials. You can save a lot of money by purchasing flowers during their peak bloom time. For instance, tulips will be cheaper and more readily available in the Spring, peonies in late Spring/early Summer, hydrangeas in mid to late summer, etc. If you want the reception hall to be filled with fragrance, go with lilies...their sweet scent will permeate the entire venue.

Pink & Brown Wedding Accessories

Strawberry Pink & Chocolate Brown Accessory SetCreating a cohesive look at your ceremony and reception sites has been made easier by retailers who sell fully coordinated wedding accessory sets. The photo on the right shows the Perfectly Chic Chocolate & Pink Accessory Collection from Wedding Favors Unlimited in the pink and brown wedding accessories section. It includes the flower girl basket and ring pillow for the ceremony as well as the guest book and pen set for the guests to sign. It also includes a lovely garter.

You can also find themed wedding accessories that incorporate only a pink color scheme or only a mocha brown color scheme. All of these are great options and you can choose one based on the choices that you've made for bridesmaid and flower girl dresses.

Your invitation will introduce your style and color palette to the wedding guests so choose wisely and give them a little nibble of the celebration you've got planned. While poking around online for wedding invitations in a chocolate brown and pink color palette, I found tons of invites that I liked so I went ahead and put together this collage of photos which incorporates selections from both MagnetStreet Weddings and Modern Girl Invitations.

A Note About Wedding Stationery

I suggest that you select your thank you note cards when you choose your invitations. Try to use the same font and color scheme for both of them. In addition, if you plan to have wedding ceremony bulletins, rehearsal dinner itineraries, and personalized cocktail napkins, coordinate the colors and fonts on those items as well. It just looks more elegant and creates cohesiveness between all aspects of your wedding.

If you want to look and feel like a princess on your wedding day, there are few other colors as classic and innocent as pink and white.  Purity, sweetness, and love are the themes of the day, and pink and white capture these feelings perfectly.

Wedding Reception & Centerpiece Ideas

Take your wedding guests' breath away by creating a stunning visual effect with flowers and candles in your reception venue. As you can see in the photo above, utilizing brown, pink or ivory table clothes coupled with pink floral arrangements and candles can be gorgeous. A touch of pink and brown here and there at the reception goes a long way. For seating, choose brown or ivory chairs that you can enhance with chair sashes (one of my favorite looks is the 2nd row farthest right photo).

As I outlined above, your choices for pink flowers are seemingly endless. However if you prefer to use white or ivory flowers for the centerpieces, then simply use pink/brown containers or tall glass vases filled with coffee beans, water or brown crystals.

Pink or brown napkins, pink candles, brown or pink wedding favor boxes....the options for reception decor in your color palette are numerous.

Pink Candy Buffet

A Fun Guest Favor & Reception Decoration!

Pink Candy Buffet PhotoCandy buffets are taking the wedding world by storm. They are an up and coming trend that both the couple and the guests love! And they are a great place to incorporate your wedding colors (see the pink candy buffet photo to the right). Basically, the bride and groom select their favorite candies within their color scheme. For example, for pink and brown, you could use milk duds, malted milk balls, cotton candy or pink lemonade jelly belly jelly beans, brown and pink M&M's, pink foil-covered chocolates, and more. Be creative because the sky is the limit when it comes to selecting candies.

The candies are placed in fun glass containers and then displayed at the reception on a buffet table that is decorated to coordinate with all of the other reception accessories. Put out little wedding favor boxes or bags for guests to fill with their favorite candies....sort of like a DIY wedding favor kit. Your guests will literally feel like kids in a candy store when they see all the fun choices on your amazing candy buffet.

Pink & Brown Wedding Cakes

As you can see in the above photo collage, the cake is definitely one of the easiest places to add pink and brown to your wedding reception. Choosing a simple white cake base made of butter-cream icing or fondant can be the perfect backdrop for beautiful brown & pink polka dots, stripes, damask patterns or colorful sugar/gum paste flowers. Of course, the other option is to use a colored pink or brown fondant that is enhanced with cut-out fondant shapes, monogram letters, and fondant or real ribbons in the opposite color.
