Brown Throw Pillows
This collection of brown throw pillows covers all shades of this popular color from light tans to dark chocolates plus solids, stripes, patterned, and oversized pillows.
Choices for material offer a wide variety of options from those that are easy to clean and can hold up to heavy use to those that are more decorative in nature and need to sit pretty on a formal sofa.
Light Brown Throw Pillows
Tan and light shades
Brown can be either light or dark or a variety of shades in between. Therefore, the names used to describe these pillows can be significantly different: taupe, cream, beige, and chocolate are a few of the standards. Here's a sample of solid brown throw pillows in lighter shades.
Dark Brown Throw Pillows
Solid dark tones
Next come the dark brown solids in shades that resemble dark chocolate candy.
There's not a lot of distinction amongst the color variations in dark brown shades but this is where fabric selection makes a big difference. There are plain, cotton fabrics for durability but for more depth and design options look at chenille, sheepskin, velvet and suede.

Striped Brown Throw Pillows
Thick and thin stripes
Striped pillows can be used to create depth in a room, draw the eye horizontally or vertically as desired, and help dress up a solid colored sofa.
Stripes don't have to be even in size, though. As you can see, flowing stripes look great, too.

Brown Patterned Throw Pillows
Swirls, geometrics, and other patterns
Prints are popular and come in many different styles. Animal prints are contemporary and hip. Chenille pillows in elegant prints are highly decorative. Geometric prints are modern and chic. The style of the print should match the style of the room.
These more decorative brown pillows often include more finishing touches such as tassels, piping, or beads. You can mix them with solids for more coverage and complexity.

Designer Brown Throw Pillows
Rich fabrics and distinguished designs
If you've spent any time looking for throw pillows online, you'll know that prices can range from as low as $10 for new ones to as high as hundreds of dollars for a single, designer pillow.
Designer pillows can command such prices because they are produced in a limited quantity in patterns created by professional artists. The fabrics are often hand dyed, quality textiles. These are more works of art. Perfect for the room where appearance and impression are important.
The following are a few of the more reasonably priced brown, designer throw pillows available online.

Throw Pillow Styles
Edges and attachments
When buying new throw pillows, there are several things to consider besides just the color:
Shape: Brown throw pillows can be square, rectangular, round, or rolled like bolster pillows. Sofa pillows are usually square and range in size from 12x12 inches to 26x26 inches.
Edge Style: Edges can be knife-edge (straight) or trimmed with tassels, fringe, beading, or decorative cording.
Fabric: The most durable pillows are made of cotton but throw pillows also come in chenille, polyester, silk, velvet, and other fabrics which can be dyed or painted.
Consider the design elements that make a particular pillow attractive to you and use those terms to help you find similar pillows based on their product descriptions.

Visitor Comments
So many styles of brown throw pillows it becomes very difficult to choose! When you can't narrow it down, print off the online image and hold it up to the sofa, chair, or room in which the pillow will sit and you'll find it easier to get a feel for how well the pattern will match your decor. Just a final tip!

- I am pondering about the word THROW pillows. Why are they called that?

- That's a very good question! They're also called "toss" pillows. My only guess is that they're called that because of the way many people (ok, ME) place them on the sofa. I just throw them on there and walk off. ;)

- I always thought it was because the furniture guy would often use the sales gimmick - buy today and I'll throw in a couple of matching pillows. I am going to resist the urge to research this ... I have a lens to build!
