What is a Browser Game?

It's a video game that is played over an internet connection.

Generally, nothing or very little is installed on the PC, and access to the game is almost instant.

They are massive and multiplayer, and usually free of charge! However, special features or advantages can be purchased using real money.

In February 2009 the browser game market received a massive boost with the launch of Quake Live, a browser based version of the hugely popular multiplayer game Quake.

Yet More Browser Games

I've heard of these, but haven't played all of them

Cybernations - run your own nation
This is a text based game which, similar to Travian, works best if you dip into it once or twice a day.
Torn City
A text-based game which puts you depths of a crime-ridden metropolis. Choose your weapon and your morality, and live a virtual life to the full. Well, sort of...
Passively Multiplayer Online Game (PMOG)
This is an attempt the capture the spirit of the massive online game, such as World of Warcraft, without forcing the player to spend hours online. It claims to turn your internet browsing into a game.
RocketOn
As with PMOG, this game attempts to turn your browsing experience into a massive multiplayer game. It allows your avatar, or virtual self, to wander across webpages and interact with others, in a manner reminiscent of Habbo Hotel but without being limited to a single site.
Ferion - online space strategy game
This is a turn based game where the objective is to capture planets, develop resources and defeat enemies. Sounds like a great idea and it might be fun if you can get past the unintuitive interface.
Seafight - the free online pirate game
This is your chance to play Cap'n Jack Sparrow, steering your trusty vessel around islands and treacherous reefs, and fighting sea monsters and other pirates.
