Who Is Brunnhilda?
Brunnhilda Quonset is a persona I have created for living and working in a virtual world known as Second Life. It may seem strange to some, but since I do art and music and am otherwise creative in "real life", putting on another costume and character is not so strange. The "real" me is basically a blank canvas on which to put various masks, anyway. And - in all honesty - "Bru" is oftentimes a truer expression of my real self.
Unlike some in Second Life, I don't adopt a totally different persona to go with my totally different appearance. I play myself with a younger and much more beautiful "costume". That is the real hook of Second Life for me - getting to look like a model and wear rock star clothes when in real life I'm approaching 50 and live in a small midwestern town where people frown on anything too flashy or sexy.
So, in that way, Bru is a chance to explore some things that can't be done in real life, at least not with the same immediacy, if at all. She has been a lot about playing dress up and doll house. She's another vehicle for me to express myself with imagery and interactive conversation - a sort of virtual 3-D art journal.

Dusty's Rock 'n Country Lounge and Mall
Dusty's has been in the top twenty most popular places in Second life, and was the #1 Country music club in SL for quite some time before its closing on April 1st, 2007.While working as a hostess there I met Rick, my former SL partner and owner of Dusty's. I was made part owner of the club (in name only and not financially, thank goodness).
Dusty's resurfaced for a while in late 2007 and 2008 and then demateralized into thin air overnight, as did the partnership. This kind of disappearing act is a VERY common occurrence among businesses and relationships in Second Life.

- My introduction to Second Life was when Pat O'Bryan set up his Portable Empire there and invited all his network. We met on numerous occasions and talked about internet marketing and life in general, and I made several firm first life friendships there. However, once Pat figured out he wasn't going to make the profit there he first envisioned, he dissolved his group and erased the Portable Empire plaza, and only a few of us stayed in S/L for various reasons. One member has built a HUGE place, others have set up homes, and one that I know of actually got married in Second Life and then got a first life divorce to go live with the second life mate. I just pop in to play the games - I love Shrooms and Zyngo, and I manage to win enough that in the year and a half I've been in S/L, I've always had Lindens to play with.
I'll have to look you up on Second Life - I haven't had anybody to visit with there for a long time.
Nice Job on this lens.

- Great reading! I like "the main difference being physically twenty years older in real life, and much less physically beautiful ... somewhat like myself in fact :) I will definitely have a look at Brunnhilda.
