Various facts about the Boss.
- Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen was born 9/23/49 in Freehold, New Jersey.
- Nickname "The Boss" orignated from Bruce's club days in the 1960's. Bruce was in charge of collecting and distributing his band's earnings, thus the title Boss.
- Bruce has played with six bands: E Street Band, The Castiles, Steel Mill, Dr. Zoom and the Sonic Boom, Bruce Springsteen Band, The Seeger Sessions Band.
- Inspired to take up music after seeing Elvis on the Ed Sullivan show when he was 7.
- Signed his first record deal with Columbia in 1972.
- Won his first Grammy in 1984 for "Dancing in the Dark". It was his 1st of 15 Grammys.
- Won an Academy Award in 1993 for "Streets of Philadelphia" from the film "Philadelphia".
- Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999.
- Bruce Springsteen is ranked #23 on Rolling Stone Magazine's list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
