The Boss has come a long way
His eloquence in expressing ordinary, everyday problems has earned him numerous awards, including Grammy Awards and an Oscar, along with a huge fan base. His most famous albums, "Born to Run" and "Born in the U.S.A", epitomize his penchant for finding grandeur in the struggles of daily life. He was also known for his long concerts which consistently break the three hour mark. His concerts sometimes extended so long that the labor unions of the venues would be forced to sue for overtime pay. Recently, most likely due to the age of himself and the E-Street Band, Spingsteen's concerts have averaged 20-25 songs; roughly being two to two and a half hours in length.
His latest album "Magic" (2007) again shows his songwriting abilities which have become an instant classic among his large fan base. A few of the songs will definitely be remembered as being in the same vein of his earlier work with the E-Street Band. Nevertheless, Springsteen has become more political. The title track of "Magic" says: "Trust none of what you hear / And less of what you see" refers to the six years after 9/11 and the war in Iraq. (read more)
